Yes! I agree 10000000%!!! I wish I had found these videos a long long time ago! He popped up as a recommended video one night and after watching it, I haven’t been able to get enough!
OMG a RU-vid bushcrafting first!!!! Someone who actually knows how to use wedges and chocks to split wood instead of abusing the knife! Amazing how effective it is yet all the RU-vid "experts" never mention it yet alone demonstrate it. Thanks Felix for showing people how to split wood without abusing their equipment!
Yep especially when they claim to be showing survival skills. Beating the hell out of my knife and risking breaking it is not my idea of a smart survival strategy.
Absolutely. It’s easy for them (the “experts”) when they are sponsored by the companies that make the knives they are destroying lol. Don’t ruin you equipment, we used to know this.
When I was about 10 years old, over 60 years ago, Popular Mechanics had an article on making a boomerang. I made a left-handed one out of 3/8" (9 mm) plywood. Worked great and had a lot of fun until it broke. Your video reminded me of the good old days. Thanks for the video and the memories.
Were you 101st airborne "screaming eagles"? My uncle from my mom's side was during Vietnam war. He unfortunately passed away about 9-10 years ago. His name was Herman Culkar.
Are you crazy??? 9mm plywood???? Mine is 5mm 10ply, birch and it's too thick, you must be crazy, 9mm could kill someone, you too (if it work, but 9mm seem crazy)
@@samuelebaiano6505 At ten years old, I couldn't very well drive to Home Depot, even it would have been around. 3/8" was all I hade available so that's what I used. You're right. It was heavy and could have caused harm, but what ten year old would think of that. Anyway, it was left-handed and it worked great.
I have witnessed him creating so many wonderful things with a SAK. Having done so, I am convinced he could build a nuclear submarine using nothing other than just one of his many SAKs!!!!!
Hi Felix, good job! Just a little hint - when you throw the boomerang hold it on the short end and have the long end point in the direction of flight. Basically opposite you have thrown in the video. That might improve your flights too! Might be too late since you did the video in April - but maybe next year you make a new boomerang :)
It's very interesting idea! Thank you for this positive experience and for your video!
We can learn perseverance from this video, a good lesson of life. Actually a lot of people need a lot of perseverance on these hard days. Grazie Felix.
lol literally had to choose between smooth gefixt and this channel about which I was to watch first. I clicked and did a double take thinking I had clicked on the other one. pleasure as always Felix. see ya next week
It's necessary to have one arm of the boomerang lighter than the other, and is best achieved with one tip carved with the profile roughly the size of a dessert spoon, but on the reverse (flat) side of the tip, to enhance the turning impulse. It's also very important to launch to one side of the prevailing (very light) wind, so the boomerang is slightly assisted in its return toward the end of the flight. A strong flick of the wrist when launching to "whip" the boomerang upward and ever so slightly angled also will very much help with the return. The flick can also be better achieved by launching the boomerang when it is correctly orientated, but held by the other arm, so it looks a little like a pistol, that is with the 'barrel' pointing forward and away from you as you launch it. I made my first (left handed) boomerangs more than forty years ago, but it's a great feeling when you make them well enough so they come back, and even when you can catch it, but be careful, they can not only break themselves, they can break you! Greetings from Scotland!
I'd venture to say that the first man that smoothed a throwing stick with a stone tool was amazed when it flew in an arc. It probably took a considerable amount of time to aeronautical engineer it into a weapon that returned to him. Enjoyed watching your first attempt. I'd say there is a "learning curve!" 😉
What an awesome idea and making of a boomerang. This seemed to be a lot of carve-action💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼. Many congrats for the result. Wish you a nice weekend, stay healthy. Best regards from the Saarland in South-West Germany.
Hallo Felix, toll gemacht.
I'm learning about the knives. I'm a law enforcement officer in the USA. My snipers will be issued the ranger grip 79. For field craft that knife will do whats needed
My sons won't see the videos I recommend; they are 16 and 17, I've lost all my influence and they watch stupid videos of people farting all day. It is depressing.
@@JavierBonillaC social media are bad if not used properly, inlcuding youtube. But they can also be a great resource. Hope your boys will find interest in something more constructive.
Hello Felix, I would say that you succeeded in making a great Boomerang. I have used Boomerangs that have been brought..... some of them would not even fly let along come back to you... you did a great job and the boomerang flew in a really good ark. well done Ian
I have witnessed so many wonderful things that Felix has created using only a SAK. Having done so, I am convinced he could build a nuclear submarine using nothing else than just his SAK!!!
@@FelixImmler I can hardly wait!!!! I am giddy with anticipation... although, I must admit, I am wary about how you might achieve Nuclear fission with a SAK.... 🤔🤔🤔.... 🤣 🤣 🤣
I’ve had the ranger grip 79 for a while now, I find it i sturdy and capable tool, but I’m not a fan of the corkscrew as it is too large to house the mini screwdriver and it is a bit on the bendy side, especially with wine bottles. Yet another project we’ll done Felix, keep the videos coming.
Hi Felix, nice shout and great job. It looks like a real Australian Aborigine. Accidents happen and when only glue resolves ... they are just minor accidents. Congratulations for the video, it was very good. Thanks! (a hug to your "very crazy" friend). Tchau!
The only thing stranger than watching a guy carve a boomerang with a pocket knife, is watching two guys carving boomerangs with a pocket knives!!! :>)> VERY GOOD!!!
Making a boomerang that doesn’t come back seems like it would be easier than making one that comes back to you. Indigenous Australians used both types. The non-returning boomerangs were heavier and were used for large game hunting and warfare. The returning boomerangs were used for hunting small game and birds.
