How To Carve A Natural Oak Slingshot

Try microwave instead of oven to dry the piece, it avoids cracking and removes moisture from the inside. Nice to see you posting another video - we missed you!

Your parents must be very proud of your achievements and the doubtless hard work and perseverance it took to get there. It's young people like yourself that inspire hope for the future especially amongst my generation (55 - 65 yrs). Good to see you back, and right back into that wood work. It does kind of always stick with you once you get good at shaping wood. Even if you do other things in life, you eventually just have to get your hands on some wood and work it. I learned that black looks good for filled in cracks by accident. Some dummy painted the walnut wood on an old shotgun stock black. He wanted it to be more "tactical." I removed all the paint by scrapping it off and sanding rather then using a chemical. The low spots in the walnut still had a bit of paint, and it looked great.

I've done the same a few years ago using the exact same technique. End result looks cool, but I attached the rubber bands differently, because I was using tubes.

I carve out my own slingshots but leave the wood to naturally weather..never put on radiator as it cracks it as u see ..love the shape that you have made and hope you don't mind but im copying it!! Cheers

I have really bad splits in my fork. It's not oak. What should I do. All the wood seems to eventually split.

Now most of the muscle strain is on your two fingers holding the pouch. Amazing nice creation, but I typically see full wooden slingshots like sculptures or sculpture collections, rather than seeing something for long heavy duty use. The most I can compromise is a Rosewood handle with stainless steel forks, or atleast there's some stainless steel being "sandwhiched". I do so very agree with your direction, ergonomics and power(penetration).

I want a rambone so such but am incapable of making one I have a few others but all cheap Chinese ones, ild love a rambone of any sort by far my favourite but just out of reach for me

20 mm ball barians that's barbaric . I thought I was cool cutting down a downed oak tree branch drying g it out cutting off the bark t reveal awesome pattern I been told happens when a tree falls and is on the floor some time it creates deep patterns that looks like you went through the grits 60 to 500 etc . But seeing this video alone made me see I wasn't great at all in fact your ARE great your slingshot design is so AWESOME I wouldn't know where to start but I have started as I wanted to have a slingshot with fork tip big enough to hold tapered bands from 30 mm to 20mm the 10 mm taper not sure how long the band will last I was contemplating putting on black gzk .82 mm or maybe 1.00 bands maybe it be too thick unit sure I will experiment as nowadays in 2021 the slingshot world fad n faze seems to be smaller ammo for greater accuracy and smaller thickness bands such as ammo 8 mm and band.thickness 0.72 gzk green or 0.72 snipersling black or yellow with 9.5 mm steel barbaric bearings or 8 mm steel ballbearings with popular tapers of with 18/12 or 22/15 or 20/15 or 25/20 for hunting its a minefield so much choice so many ways what shocked me was when you used massive size ballbearings still said they where to small etc????

I make my pouches out of nylon straps with para-chord loops stitched to the sides.
