I love your way of caving the way you teach is very simple bit very accurate I live in the USA and it's very hard to find people that carve it's almost impossible there is so much pleasure in it I think it's very important for is as people to know these skill sets I just wanted to thank you brother for sharing your art and skill whit us and know there is people out here that really do appreciate what you have given and shard whit us the only big Regret 😀 I have is I wish I had picked this skill up earlier in my life

Great tutorial and so satisfying to watch. Looks like your cutting through butter with a hot knife. Can't tell if it's the quality of wood, the quality of knife or quality of craftsmanship. I suspect it's a mixture of all three. As a complete novice, much of this is well outside my pitifully limited skill set, but these kinds of tutorials are invaluable. Many thanks guys. Keep these videos coming. If nothing else, it literally lowers my hypertension. And I do mean literally. 😃

Not only does he have great carving skills he's also a great teacher, he's passing on knowledge to future generations. I've worked with some very skilled and knowledgeable people who had no teaching ability, which is a shame because their knowledge will go with them to the grave and no one benefits. Teaching is a gift, and he's got it..

Many thanks for a truly excellent video. I'm going to be checking out the links given. I'd never seen one of the scorp tools before what a beautiful thing. I used to turn olive wood years ago until it became silly prices. It has a feel similar to wet wood and was a joy to work. When i used to go to Greece and see them burning huge amounts of it on their stoves it was heart wrenching. You are a talented man Chris, thanks mate

Great video as usual Zed! There are few channels out there that gets as many various skilled people on so many different topics. Having said that, I do miss watching you craft stuff yourself. There’s just sonething about someone who, like me, is not an expert trying things out and talking about what worked, and least as important; what didn’t work. I know you are a busy man, but in a perfect world where time wasn’t a factor, I’d love for you to do a follow-up video after visiting a skilled craftsman, where you’d try to recreate the project as a relatively newbie like us watching :) A lot of things that the professionals do seem easy, but often aren’t. And you often learn more from mistakes, than from watching someone do it perfectly. At any rate, thanks for bringing all these skilled people to our attention. Very interesting! Keep up the good work! :)

Im never sure when I watch these. Are they using super soft, green wood? Or are there knives the sharpest in the world? HAVE YOU SEEN THE KNIFE SHAVINGS HE DOES!? I shave with my knives and I cant get clean cuts like that. Maybe if I use juicy sappy pine ... then maybe.

Northern Woodsman Both! Birch is soft and this wood was felled in January. The knife is razor sharp too! 👍👍

Most of these projects involve using freshly cut green wood and like Chris said keeping your tools sharp at all times too ~Peace~

Great video as usual, Zed! I have one question though. If one was to replicate this whale scoop and sell it on a market, is it called plagitarism?

Thank you kindly Robby, thats a very good question and may I suggest contacting Chris to ask him as I would not like to answer that on his behalf. The links to his website and social media are in the description box just below the video ~Peace~

Robby, thanks for your comment and for getting in touch. I just wanted to say here, I don’t have a problem with other people being inspired by my work. I came up with this design myself but found others had do so too before...

Great instructional videos but, if I may, position your camera to a first person perspective. I have seen these In guitar training videos. It is the view from theirs eyes, sort of over the shoulder. But still very informative...✌
