Great little video dude, straight to the point and no over-explaining. Seems a lot of people make a bigger deal out of these than they really are, I was super nervous about using my new bait caster but after watching this video I had no problems on my first trip with it.

I bought my first baitcaster a few years ago and I couldn't use it because I kept getting it tangled. I haven't tried to use it again because I thought the reel was bad/broken... now I know I was bad.. Now that I know what I was doing wrong I can't wait to test it out again! I came on here tonight to intentionally say, "Thank you". I am 56 years old and always used spinning rods. I have wanted to switch to baitcasters for my heavier baits but I never could really get the hang of it. Before I saw your video, I sort of got to where I could mostly cast without a bird nest. After watching your video, and using your setup method, I can now cast without bird nests. To my surprise, my casting distance almost quadrupled. Really...quadrupled!!! So, again I say, "THANK YOU"!

Thank you, man! I've always fished, but i would just throw some weights on the line with a hook and a worm and let it sit until i get something, with a closed reel. Just the other day i caught my first bass with a crankbait i bought randomly, with my closed reel which was a pretty good rush. Thank you for explaining things from square one!

Thanks for the fishing vid, Vin The Fishing Man. I live in The Pacific Northwest where the Columbia river meets Oregon and Washington. It seems that almost every baitcaster video I've seen is meant for bass fishing (I'm a newbie). Where I live it's all about the steelhead and salmon, yet everyone still uses baitcasters. What's the deal? Bass: most often murky lakes; salmonids - fast cold rivers. So, what are spinning reels for? What are the advantages of using the baitcaster in my situation?

Fished spinning reels most of my life. Got a baitcaster just to see the difference. I dont use spinning reels much anymore. Baitcasters are just plain fun.

Just bought a Pflueger President reel and it arrived today. I havent even strung it yet, but it's my first baitcaster like this. I'm an old school, cane pole or zebco 33 rod and reel fisherman. Been fishing 30 years with good ol zebco and the like and have caught many a fish! I finally decided I could treat myself to a higher quality reel and after much research, I chose the pflueger president. I'm thankful I watched your vid first! I had no idea what the knobs and stuff did exactly lol! Now I know! I am confident I'll make a few nests at first, I'm sure everybody does while learning. Hopefully I can work out the kinks before the reel makes it to the water lol. I imagine the quality will be worth it once I get over the learning curve lol. 2 random questions...What line are you running in the reel in this video (brand,weight)? What is your reason behind using this type of baitcaster reel VS. A simpler type like a zebco 33 etc? What are the pros and cons of a reel like yours basically? I love my abu Garcia it's like a car I get to work the reel and be one with it like a manual vehicale and I love how I can adjust for many lures and bait from ultra light to a heavy weight nice video thanks for the tips

Can you use it with the reel on the bottom of the pole vs top? Flip it after the bait hits the water and reel it in with your left hand while the right hand holds the pole?? Carlos.
