Thin Concrete Bricks are the best way to do an exposed brick look without actuary ripping out your drywall and upsetting the landlord! Thin bricks look even better than real bricks because you can customize the bricks to have any look you want. You could even make them unconventional colors!

If the combination of sand and cement makes the concrete , can I just use ready and mix concrete instead of combing the cement and sand? Or using mortar mix instead? Cement is a bit expensive in my area but if mixing cement and sand makes the concrete bricks could you theoretically just used like a concrete mix that’s ready to go for the bricks instead if that makes sense?
@GlobMarble
@GlobMarble Месяц назад
Usually ReadyMix will always be more expensive than the raw materials combined like sand and cement. We recommend making your own mix as all additives like plasticizers and pigments are dosed on cement weight, not concrete weight as a whole. If you would still want to use ReadyMix, avoid bags with large aggregate sizes as these specific brick molds are very thin.
@PatrickKabanuck

I have followed your recipe to a T and no matter what I do it’s too dry. It’s unmixable. What am I doing wrong? I’m using regular Portland cement and sand from Lowe’s.
@GlobMarble

If you are also using Superplasticizer and the mix is still to dry we could have a different moisture content in our sand. Just add more water until it is workable :)

Have you ever tried laying in a number/letter to be able to make messages with brick? Maybe cookie cutters? I lay patios and would love to be able to have some stones to add a little message
@GlobMarble
@GlobMarble 3 года назад
That sounds really nice. Cookie cutters would look too foreign inside the bricks, so I would recommend using molding clay to spell out words on individual bricks inside of the mold, and then texture the clay with a small rock to make it look more natural. cast your concrete into the mold and remove the clay from your casted bricks. You have to remember that the texture will be inverted, so write as if writing through a mirror.
