What you may not be aware of is that these fish are harvested from very deep waters, between 400 to 700 feet offshore around the canyon ledge. Most of the fish will not survive that pressure change, catch and release is not something you would want to base a trip on because the fish will not survive the trip back down. The year we filmed this episode, all legal limits were enforced, no one caught over their limit of Sea Bass. In most cases our features highlight and promote catch and release where appropriate and applicable. What we have always strived for is to promote either catch and release or catch and keep within your limit, and then move on. This is the best way to protect species. Many anglers think that catching and releasing fish past the legal limit is ok and for some species like largemouth bass, this may be true to an extent. However in many cases releasing fish back always has a moratorium rate. Lastly on this feature on Sea Bass fishing not all anglers caught their limit. Myself and our cameraman were among others that did not reach the limit of Sea Bass. Please before heading out, always check with your game authority in your state as to what the season and limits are for all species. Godspeed. JB

alan Ramos lol.Can u keep cali BSB.I heard they are protected like the goliath grouper in florida.Which sucks because if i am going to risk blowing out my back during the fight or risk having my rod snap or being thrown overboard.i should at least keep the fish.Now most wrecks in Florida are swarmed by goliath grouper.They should at least loosen up to one goliath per vessel.
