Hello folks. Today we're out in the waters of Cape Cod bottom drifting for fluke, black sea bass, and those nice little scups (also know as porgies).
We've rigged up with a viper spoon to add flash and flutter to our cut squid bait, a cattail sinker to keep us from getting snagged on the bottom, and a t-turn swivel to keep our lines tangle-free.
As mentioned in the video, if you'd like to get your own viper spoons, you can get them here: store.thundermi...
While on our bottom bouncing drifts, we've pulled up a nice mixed bag of fish. Including: fluke, black sea bass, and scup/porgie. All with cut bait on the viper spoons.
As always thanks for watching and until next time, good luck and good fishin'!
Ivo

Saltwater fishing is so cool. Just the fact that there's so much variety, you never really know what you might catch. Love it!

To cup cake Mann: To your other question on Python Darters, they are also fantastic for large-mouth - the Viper Spoons are better suited for trolling or drifting, but if you want to cast for large-mouth bass, then the Python Darts are the way to go :)

I tried a "viper spoon" by itself on a small pond by my house. These things catch bass and pickerel all day and night. I love it, need to get a collection. I was using the middle sized one on a bait casting rod and reel, love these lures.

Ivo, I recently purchased a package of your T-Turn swivels and I have yet to use them. I am primarily a bass and crappie angler and I fish shallow ponds, how do you recommend I use the T-Turns? Thanks, and great video as always!
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 10 лет назад
There are so many ways you can use the T-Turn but if you want to use live bait, suggest tying on a t-turn and then go down a bout a foot to a sinker - then off the T part of the T-Turn, tie on a hook with about 4 - 6 inches of line. Fish with worms or minnows and you will do well :) You are going to love using the T-Turns and you can use them in any 3-way application you want :)

Hey Ivo, my father and I often fish the long island sound from the beach for scup. Would your viper spoons be a viable lure to use from shore? If so which colors would you recommend. If not what other kinds of gear would you recommend? Thanks in advance
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 10 лет назад
Nice to hear that you spend time fishing with your father :) The Viper Spoon is a light flutter spoon and if you want to cast it from shore, you certainly can, but you may need to add an in-line sinker or some split shots about a foot in front of it in order to get more distance with your cast. Otherwise, if you wanted to jig, you could use a flexi jig and suggest using the heavy one which 1 oz. There is plenty of great fishing on long island sound and you can also cast the Python Darters as well as they will also work good for you :)

What type of knot do you use to tie to your snap? I like to use braid and the t-turn swivel and will be using a flurocarbin leader to my viper spoon
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 10 лет назад
Hi Tom - you can use the Palomar knot as your main knot or just use the single uni-knot for all 3 of your ties: How to Tie a Single Uni-Knot and When to use a Single Uni-Knot

Will large mouth bass go for python darters?
@zakkoza4906
@zakkoza4906 10 лет назад
What's the difference between the python darted and the bucktail viperspoon
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 10 лет назад
Hi Zak - the Python Darter is heavier and designed for casting where as the Viper Spoon is light and great for drifting or trolling (it can be cast as well, but may need to add some weight) The Python Darter also comes with one hook where as the Viper Spoons have multiple hooks of 2 or 3. One thing they have in common is that they both work great :)

@thundermistlures

Hi Quinn - you can use the Viper Spoons, Boa Jig'rs, Flexi Jigs, Python Darters and the Buck-tail Flexi jigs as well :) Just depends how you want to fish such as cast, jig, drift or troll :)

It is incredible how you develop a taste on this sport.... Small accident (long story short) my rod ended in the bottom of the sea. I went to the ticket shop to get one just like it and they ran out... So I got a slightly heavier model (rated for 10 to 20lb test line) fast instead of extra fast tip and it feels so different...

Sadique Ghany Hi Sadique - the SS Viper Spoons work great for tolling or drifting and the Python Daters are great for casting :) Stay tuned because this summer, Thundermist Lure Co. will be releasing a new line of crank baits as well as jigging spoons :)

@thundermistlures

Juan Briones Yes you can Juan, but remember that it is a light spoon...it gets a bit heavier once you add your bait but some people also add a small weight about a foot in front of the Viper Spoon :)

cape cod has fluke?
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 8 лет назад
The Cape Cod area does have fluke....the Buzzards bay side has them, the cap cod canal entrance has them and you can catch then right in cape cod bay as well, along the shoreline - good luck on the water and thanks for writing in :)
@vsonic86
@vsonic86 8 лет назад
Oh my god you reply, I didn't know Massachusetts has summer flounder(fluke). I thought you have to go to New York in order to catch them. So you said I can catch them on the shoreline. What would you recommend for lure or rig? I love using bucktail. Thank again for reply.
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 8 лет назад
Bcuktails are a good lure to use for Fluke, and the Viper Spoons (as you seen in this video) are outstanding for fluke....it's the perfect combination of flash, flutter and bait. The rig consists of a t-turn 3-way swivel, sinker and a viper spoon - if you check out the beginning of this video again, you will see the exact rig. this rig will catch you countless fluke. Good luck on the water :)
