"How to catch Blackfin Tuna" Using slow pitch jigging technique offshore fishing If there is one fish we have dialed in it's blackfin Tuna. Using the slow pitch jigging technique explained in this video has landed us many tunas offshore fishing. We stopped off at the famous Sands Harbor for lunch then headed back offshore for round two of slow pitch jigging and Johnny landed a huge blackfin tuna.

Great video! We caught some monster BFT in January on slow jigs using the same jigging technique to search the water column.

Hey Johnny Jigs! I live in Florida, just like you guys, but I live about an hour away from St. Marks (which is located on the north west coast of Florida), and me, my friend and his dad take their boat to a place in the gulf of Mexico called K-tower, which is a giant tower that comes out of the water and sits in about 60ft of water, and its about 11 miles offshore and we catch red snapper, huge mangrove snapper, gag grouper, Goliath grouper, and king mackerel. You guys made me want to start slow pitch jigging, and because of that I bought a slow pitch jigging rod and reel to use over the summers for grouper and red snapper. I also recently bought some jig wraps from your website, along with a jig and some stainless steel solid rings. I love the quality/price of the jig and jig wraps I bought, and I will definitely be shopping at your website in the future. Keep up the amazing videos guys! -Charles

So you can partially speed jig with just the long slim jigs, or you'll speed jig with the wide flutter jigs as well?

Hey Paul, I will speed jig with both. There is a difference between a speed jig and a slow pitch but you can rip a slow pitch from time to time to create a reactionary strike. I like to mix it up especially when the bite is slow.

Thank you!! For my fishery in south Florida I'm generally fishing from 100-450' depth. Pending on current, wind, jig weight, and drift speed I switch from a Temple Reef Gravitate G2 or G3. I am looking for a even unloading of my rod while jigging. If I had to pick one I would start with the G2....Johnny

Yes, The only time I do not put hooks on the bottom is if I am in a area that I'm likely to get hung up.....Johnny
