I love the video. Especially the drone footage. Good job! 👍🏽 Although, I don't agree with keeping the females with eggs.. even if they're keepers. That's just my opinion though. 🤷🏽♂️
If I catch them, I usually decide not to keep the females with eggs! But based on the studies done by the department of fish and wildlife it's okay to.
Female Dungeness crab can carry up to 2.5 million eggs, are much smaller, lack the large claws, and are less meaty than males. Any sporting fisherman/woman mindful of sustaining the crab population would toss them back so they can reproduce more young for future generations. The larger females carry the most eggs and produce the most offspring. It is illegal for commercial fishermen in CA to keep female Dungeness crab.
State of California has determined that allowing sport fisherman to take females Is Sustainable . Let each sportsman make his or her decision as to take a female . I would never take one with eggs , but a female when I'm wanting to eat it , is game .
@@Usercarobsmk I agree. Last two times I went I got nothing but smalls so if I find a female without eggs I may just harvest it. But just one to scratch the itch for crab. If I catch any legal males the female goes back.
Great vid! If you dive for them, please do not show the background to keep the spot quiet. "Loose lips sink ships." Let me know if you are down for a collab sometime.
