How to catch fast aquarium fish in a nice Aquascape without ruining it can be hard. But this has worked with plecos/african cichlids/chinese algae eaters and much much more.
Fishnets can also work as fishtraps, and I trap fish with them all the time.
To catch plecos without destroying your nice Aquascape can be hard. Hope this video helps.

Thanks so much! Have a little guppy/platy/shrimp tank that's very heavily planted, and has become a nightmare to catch fish without ripping my aquascape apart! My usual method when it's getting crowded and I need to move a batch to a grow out tank is to delay feeding and get them good and hungry, leave a net in there for a day, remove most of the floating plants to a bucket, then when I next feed them I scoop them from beneath. Chasing them with a net from the side makes them panic and flee, but they're less likely to spot the net they've become accustomed to when you sweep it up from below in a fairly quick, confident motion. But you know how it goes, there's always that particular fast and canny fish that dives into the most densely planted areas! I need to catch up some botia in another tank to move them to a larger home, and I've been dreading it; knowing how fast and clever they are, so was searching for tips, thank you so much for this! I've left nets in there before, but never thought of baiting the net - simple, but genius! Always worth searching for as many tips as possible in this hobby, we can learn so much from each other to save ourselves some headaches! New sub now, your channel looks really interesting. I know this is an old video, going to be watching some of your older content to see some of these guppies! That was an amazing scape in this aquarium.

I also do this, but use the bottle trick also...create a trap with a soda bottle cut in half and taped or glued back together upside down

Yep, I have a home made trap as well! :-) But I have two tops of a soda bottle together. That way I can unscrew the bottom and get fish and shrimp out without taking muy bottle trap appart.

Man, I tried to catch about 40 of my CPDs fry in my densely planted (shrimp aquarium retaking) tank and i got to the point that i had to gravel vac the fish, add water, gravel wac them wit the added water, add some more again till there was no fish. Point taken - no big breeding in densely planted tanks for next time :D

@@CrazyAquariumGuy Mine had constant flow of live food (baby neocaridina shrimp) :D and they were the only fish in the tank. People often put them with some other fish like rasboras or tetras and they hide because they are afraid (they need to be the apex predator of the tank which is funny and hard to do cuz theyre 2cm or 0.75 inch big) :D

I have another suggestion for Europe vs USA Aquariums - what were common decorations for beginners to have 20 years ago and now in Europe? We love our Disney characters over here, as well as bubbling chests, divers, shipwrecks, anything from kids movies. I use your "let the fish net itself" technique as well. Saves so much frustration. "Get in the net you no good &!$%* %&^*(* *()$ @$% bleeping danio! No, honey, I don't know why there is water on the floor."

You've doubtless found a solution for this, but in case you haven't, or in case someone else sees this and finds it helpful - I tend to catch some shrimp and other tiny guppy fry that aren't ready to be moved, along with the one I'm trying to catch when I use this method. So I half fill a fish bucket with water from the tank after leaving the net in the tank for a few hours, wait until the fish I want is in the net, and scoop it out even if there are shrimp and other fish I didn't plan to catch in there. Then put them in the bucket and catch the one you want from there. You can catch a specific fish more easily in the bucket, and without risk of ripping plants out of your scape. Then return the others back to the tank. Note of caution though; make sure the temp of the water in the bucket hasn't dropped much while you were waiting for that fish to go in the net. Leave a thermometer in there so you can check it before you lift the net out. If it took a while and the water has cooled, make sure you temperature match it back to the tank temp before transferring the fish to the bucket. You don't want to shock your fish with a sudden temp change.
