We were there this last week for 5 days and the fish were really small compared to previous years. We’ve caught big fish there all the time. This year so far isn’t producing bigger fish. Still a favorite place of ours.

Great video! You inspired us to go hit it 2 weeks ago. The bummer was half of the fish we caught were loaded with worms. We read it's a common thing and it's OK to eat them because the worms stay in the gut cavity and don't move into the meat, but neither of us could fathom eating those unless starving. I think those were the fish that didn't put up much of a fight once hooked.

We did really good 2 weeks ago on the unnamed lake 😁 it's one of my favorite places. I love the gulp products but my biggest complaint is the bottles suck. They tend to leak like a hole in the roof. Baby food jar holds them beautifully no leaks.

@@Northwestfishingfanatics running the snubber's made a good bit of difference. I have started tying my rigs with owner mosquito hooks. Fine wire and razor sharp, my finger can attest to that.

Very nice and informative video. I fish Riffe a fair amount each year, both ends. I too use a snubber for the exact same reasons and I feel that it definitely increases my land rate. The only difference is I put my snubber at the other end of the leader to the dodger. I attach it to the snap swivel, then the leader, then the dodger. This way it has minimal impact on the action of the dodger. But, the way you have it set up seems to work as well. I too use the pink maggots. But, the go-to bait of choice on Riffe is salad shrimp. I don't have success using shrimp. I have seen fish as big as 18" caught in Riffe, but more towards fall.

I came here to suggest a bumper between the snubbed and dodger so the action isn't affected as much. Seemed to work well this way too, just found your channel. Really enjoying your content!

Love the video and the channel! I've learned a lot from your videos on how to be a better fisherman. Keep up the great work! You're a true inspiration for content creators and fisherman/fisherwoman around the world!! Quick question, what video editing software do you use to edit and upload videos on RU-vid? I'm trying to start my own RU-vid fishing channel and I'm trying to see which software is worth investing in to edit fishing videos taken on my GoPro 11?

From your ball weight to your snubber line, is that the same fishing line that goes from your pole to the ball weight? Thanks

It goes mainline to the dropper rig. Dodger at the end to a leader, to whatever lure.

@Northwestfishingfanatics
@Northwestfishingfanatics Год назад
Thanks. Now is good. You really don't need downriggers. The surface rod with 1oz weight caught most of the fish.
@brianjohnston4207
@brianjohnston4207 5 месяцев назад
I just cast small casting spoons and roostertails or long line behind a boat with no downriggers or weights. Try green Lures. Best before weather gets hot for spinners and spoons switch to sinking bait under a float or a small piece of lead when it gets hot fishing deeper. Small casting jigs like Kokanators or fish field dynasty jigs in 1/2 Oz also get deeper when the water warms up just be wary of snagging on bottom. Casting spinners early in the morning is a blast and produces almost constant action for kids. I use 6lb mono. Using alot of lead just isn't as fun for me personally buti it does get meat.

What’s the rod and reel combos you are using?
@Northwestfishingfanatics
@Northwestfishingfanatics Год назад
All four are the Okuma Celilo 7'6" light action Kokanee Pro Trolling rods. I used to have the white Lamiglass rods but these are half the price and work just as good. The reels are Okuma Convector low profile CV-163DLX left handed. Spooled with 20lb Power Pro.

@@Northwestfishingfanatics So I saw the video, what about the snubber line? When you do that dropper rig style, do you also use a snubber with it too? Or is using that snubber line a different method? Which one is better ? Thanks
@Northwestfishingfanatics
@Northwestfishingfanatics 2 месяца назад
@@NghiaPham-xi5so I use the snubber only when it's direct to the dodger, like when downrigging. The dropper rig acts as a snubber by sliding through the weight when the fish are fighting.

If you are losing a lot of fish, change out your hooks. Get rid of the octopus hooks. By the way, its sherBET not burt

What's the rubber snubber for?
@Northwestfishingfanatics
@Northwestfishingfanatics Год назад
back in the day they were almost necessary because the rods were too stiff. Now with rids made specifically for Kokanee (long and limber) they are not really necessary but I think they do help reduce pressure with aggressive fish. They absorb shock.

Warmer months absolutely. Caught 20 coho at the dam with family one year every coho was loaded with worms, and i mean spilling out once cut. Colder weather keeps a higher quality fish. Riffe gets extremely warm water Temps in the summer. 60+ degrees.
