How to catch MOONEYE!! One of the best CATFISH baits!!!!

In this video I share a few tips for catching mooneye.. mooneye is one of my favorite baits for big catfish and they can be easily kept alive which makes them great bait for flatheads..watch until the end to see the bait in action as I catch a couple catfish using them. Don't be so sure, skipjack herring are damn near everywhere, and Mooneye as well. I spent half my life wanting to fish water with these type of baits, only to find my river is FULL of both. True story!

Great video! They have those mooneyes up a little north of my area. But I guess we are below the last dam don’t ever see them here. My only reason I can figure anyways. That was a nice Flathead too! 👍

They are in the weirdest current seams...a small float with several hooks, baited with Mealworms will tell the story. They are as voracious on bugs as skippies are on minnows.

Me and my son started fishing the pool below lock 10 this year. Didn't know about these bait fish. Gonna try that maybe Monday eavning. We fish that pool just cause it's a 10 min. Drive to ramp from our house. Which pool do you like best

ky. bass fishing I’ve fished from the Ohio river all the way to high bridge and I’ve been impressed with every pool.. I’m surprised that this river doesn’t get more attention.. I fish pool 7 a lot because I live only a few miles from the ramp..this video was from pool 7.. if I had to pick a favorite it would be pool 2..

Clarence Payton thanks for checking out my channel.. the blue light is just a 50” led strip with adhesive backing and I have it on the back of my rod rack.. I got it at cabalas for around 30$.. hope this helps.. 👍👍

Scotty Hill aka Catfishnfreak we catch them on the Ohio River at at the Greenup Dam...we use wax worms for rod and reel and you can catch them with nets...
