Great little video barracod. I liked when the Gudgeon grabbed the little Hardyhead for dinner. I have caught just about every know fresh water fish on the east coast of QLD I have lived in Cairns, Tully, Ingham, Gladstone, Bundaberg, and Brisbane and by far Gladstone had the most variety to choose from when fishing for Aquarium fish. Gladstone seems to be the hot spot. I have caught the following in Gladstone: crimson spot Rainbows, eastern Rainbows, ornate Rainbows, pacific blue eye, Hyrtl's Tandan, Tandanus Tandanus, Garfish, longtom, Hardyhead, Bullrout, Glassfish, Barra, mangrove jack, yellowbelly, Barred grunter, Spangled perch, Crescent perch, Jungle perch, Mouth almighty, Empire gudgeon, Midgley carp gudgeon, purple spotted gudgeon, sleepy cod, crimson tipped gudgeon, spangled gudgeon, and pipefish, plus heaps of ferals like sword tails, guppies, convicts, mother of pearl cichlids, Oscars. all the fish listed I've caught in Gladstone QLD. so if anyone wants to collect a few natives for their display tank well need I say more. Thanks again for the cool little video :)
a couple of creeks between caboolture and bribie look ok, plus the creeks between caboolture and sunshine coast on the highway. easy access around the bridges,
Im not going to disclose the actual location otherwise it will get overrun. Anywhere from youngs crossing, to the dam wall, and upriver from the dam you will catch fish, also south pine river from around bald hills all the way upriver to eatons hill and beyond, then there is cedar creek too, plenty of places around here.
I wish I could do that where I live. Where I live there's no tropical fish like Platys, Swordtails, Guppies, etc. Only Trouts, Salmon, Sturgeons, etc. Which get HUGE! Sometimes I wish someday I could go somewhere and catch fish like these in Africa, Australia, and South America and keep them in like 50+ gallon aquariums. The freshwater, not the saltwater. Awesome video.
+AnimalLover Platys, swordtails, and guppies are all noxious pests and invasive species... If there is none there you have a healthy creek. And for gods sake dont release any into it.
Just bought one today to try in my backyard which has a rain forest put peanut butter and bread in it and throw it in, could see the rainbows but non would go in after 30 mins they just swim passed it! Is it because it is blue it was the only color bcf had?
Hi I have just caught some nice south purple spotted gudgeon for my tank. Will they eventually take flake or like bloodworms maggots earth worms etc better
We used to do this in some creeks around Wollongong when I was a kid. Bread in a juice bottle with a door cut in the bottle. I still have no idea what fish we caught. I've done the same in the shoalhaven river inland near braidwood NSW. That was roughly 15 20 years ago too. I was still a clueless beginner in aquariums so id put my catch in with my shop bought fish only to gind within 36 hrs the wild fish killed and ate the others. Again no idea what they were bit only 4 or 5 cms long so no idea how they ate the other fish? I love my aquariums and ecoscaping them growing out of my tanks etc but I don't know anything about wild fish. Just how to build up and maintain planted tanks. Ots all great fun though and in my older age (45) I do a bit of research into things now. Not just blindly experimenting.
@@barracod cheers man. I have dpi and fisheries pdf's and they've been helpful. Once my knee heels up enough (motorbike crash crushed it) I've got a few places in mind to go have a look where there's some potential. Just gotta be able limp into the spots haha. 👍
Holy shit you're actually using vegemite for bait, I clicked on the thumbnail based on a suspicion that was vegemite, gonna have to have a crack myself.
I am a aquarium fish keeper for 15years just new to Sydney from China! please tell me where to find Rainbowfish near Sydney or other place in Australia ? Thank you! it is nice to find your video in here! if you have Facebook connection will be nice !
Then you take them home put them in your aquarium and they die of shock if not before reaching the aquarium. I don't like wild fish, I think they belong in the wild.
the guy with the rifle was standing out of shot, also the drop bears only attack tourists and they know the locals by the smell of the Vegemite we eat. australianmuseum.net.au/drop-bear
