How to Chain Stitch: Basic Tutorial & Variations 

Well at the grand age of 70 I’ve just found your site. I’ve watched most of your videos and have to say what an inspirational woman you are. I didn’t think I could learn anymore but you’ve proved me wrong. Thank you for making me get my threads out again ❤

Gosh! I have learned two new stitches at the age of 70 and after doing embroidery on and off for over 60 years! The backwards chain stitch and the cable stitch are brilliant Thank you x

Such a versatile stitch. I love the texture and movement you can achieve when you fill an area with basic chain stitch. I also think it's so cool the way cable chain looks like a jewelry chain.

Thank you Marion for your video today. I had forgotten all about cable , what a nice stitch. You teach very clearly and I am getting an expanding repertoire watching you on a Friday. The RSN have added another 25 stitches to their bank, you would think there would be no more to be had.😂

After having seen and tried out most of your stiches from your stich library, I have started over on a much bigger piece of fabric. It’s so fun to try out the many variations, so looking forward to many more😉. Now I have room enough to make each stich many times, so I hope I can remember what to do to make them, when I need them in a project😂💗🌺🌸🥰

Every time I see the backwards chain I think: why would you make it that way. It looks the same. But it is just my idea, making the chain stitch always the "normal"way. You give more ways to make chain stitches and that is very good. Have a nice saturday, see your video on sunday

Hi Marion, This stitch tutorial is great for us to build on Thank You. Could we possibly see how to do Braided Chain stitch as I just cannot get my head around how to do this stitch. Maybe in your next lot of stitching tutorials. I have tried it and ends up looking not quite right. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I would evenutally like to use it as a stem for a flower or a plant. Thank You for sharing I particularly like the Cabled Chain its a very interesting stitch.
