How to Change 🛠️ DualShock 4 Analog Stick Tension - PS4

How to change the tension of the PS4 controller analog stick, we have tension springs ranging from 10 gram till 200 gram.
Our springs will only fit original PS4 analog stick modules, so no aftermarket modules due to the fact these can have shorter springs inside.
Higher tension can be great for aiming in FPS games or racing games.
Note that replacing these springs is not advised for beginners. Some soldering skills are needed.

To fix a stick drift problem, I just did this minus the solder sucker and heat gun. It was not easy or fun..... but it got done. Wish I could pull it off with the speed & ease this guy is able to.

Problem is that everywhere I go to order new analogs the reviews say that they are garbage and not accurate and have lots of dead zones. I really need good, working analog sensors. Anyone know where I can get some?

If it's just the sensor your worried about you can buy just the sensor wheel and replace it I think I've got a link to some I'll drop later

Bought a 100 gram spring from your online store and after I installed the spring the thumb stick gets stuck when pushed to the corners I haven’t installed it onto the motherboard yet because of this. Any help?

Ebay ones actually work. I just installed one with 100 gram sprint as well. I emailed him and he said it’s normal for it to get stuck around the corners as there’s more travel distance but once installed in the motherboard and in the controller completely the travel distance decreases so the analog stick can’t go all the way to the sides so it won’t get stuck. Mine got stuck until I installed it completely and it works good.

when the module is not seated in a controller the stick will lock in place when pushed to the edges , and this is accentuated by the higher tension everything is fine. once in a controller the edges of the controller house will stop the stick before it goes far enough to stick .

What sping would be recommended for a game like war thunder where you are moving a cursor around? I've got as far as dissassembling and have the oem spring out just cant make my mind up which spring to order. I'm thinking a soft as possible would be best but would 10 grams still snap back to center?

The springs, this is just the press down "r3" requiring a firmer press? Or does it also make the stick glide more stiff/accurate? I always accidentally press r3 heat of moment.

Great vid. After replacing the analog module do you have to recalibrate the stickes or something? When I replaced my left one with a new analog module it drifts to the right. I can move in all directions but always drifts back to the right.

@@Hamza-iz4nc no fortunately the original sticks were ok and I just resoldered it back making sure I had really good connects..I think the drift was due to either bad analog modules or ones the maybe we not 100% compatible.

The drift can be by the positioning of the green potentiometer on the side. You can try tilting the potentiometer maybe 1-2mm at most to find the magic spot. If you have a multimeter you can check the ohm readings of a good centered stick and align the potentiometer before installation.

Ds4 controller original springs are so much better compared than Xbox one controllers. They are too weak! I always switch them over to my xb1 controller. Nice vid btw 😀

That was amazing. Is there any way of getting inside that analog joystick while it's still on the board? See last night I was trying to slip/wedge something(a spacer) in between the contact that L3 clicks down onto and the adhesive wasn't dry enough and the spacer I had slipped right inside there and I cant get it out.... soooooo now its stuck inside. Idk if I've ruined it. And i am maybe 67% confident in my skill of doing what you just did maybe? Haha I'm a little rusty at soldering is all. If I can take it apart while its still on board thatd help alot

I have an X360 controller that isn't exactly broken, it's just that the left analog stick has become quite a bit loose and doesn't quite snap back to center, instead sometimes it leans slightly to the left, which most of the time isn't enough to cause mayor problems but it's still annoying. I'm not sure if fixing that is worth going through all this, especially since it works perfectly otherwise.

How can I disable or take out R3 button? I have 3 controllers so I don’t mind modifying one for COD game. So many matches I click R3 accidentally when someone jumps infront to gunfire and opponent is like 15 feet away and I accidentally click it to melee, so I swapped the button assignment but it doesn’t help since In COD every button is for something so then I slide accidentally or try calling killstreak. I just want to take it out completely. Is it possible? I tried jamming it between the orange piece and black pad but made controller act weird. Like it wouldn’t let me run some matches or work.

Swapping the spring inside the controller changes the resistance, so if you add a thicker spring its harder/tighter to move and a thinner spring makes it easier/looser.

I have a problem with my controller The left stick move fine when push up, down, left, or right. It’s responsive normally However when I push the stick in a upward and right at a 2 o’clock, it lost response constantly. It keep going on and off (and I just bought it 1 week ago too) I could replace the whole module but I just wanted to know if there is a specific part inside that module that refuse to sync between the horizontal sensor and vertical sensor. In case it happens again, I can replace or upgrade that part.

Mine is getting stuck. I had 0 experience 3 hours ago and now I have 4 controllers fully disassembled and I've been able to turn 3 broken controllers into 2 fully functioning controllers. I need to do exactly what is done in the video on part 1. Good luck

AurafrostX I had another contoller which didn’t have the grips and my R2 button was messed up so I switched all the buttons and changed my joystick grips

@@eddie_eggplant_1082 I had no idea it was this easy. However, my kid's controller right analog stick was continuously going to the left. Removed the plastic piece out of the green chamber, cleaned the chamber with alcohol and that wasn't it sadly. Took the controller back apart and inside the axis are 2 small white plastic clips that are around the center stick that need to be slightly pressed in on the side that is raised up. Now the controller is back to being brand new minus it being disassembled. I also took off the rumble connections to keep the battery charge longer and I don't use those anyway. Have you thought of painting these? That's probably the next step for these besides getting longer analog sticks.

Hot soldering iron will work or a desoldering pulp with a built in iron and use plenty of flux as it makes the job way easier unlike this video.

some people like my self prefer the older xbox360 stick tension compared to the new looser xbox one, style, Ps is somewhere in between both, but xbox one is really crap

Tension is the answer, You are not given much room to aim and be precise since you have about 1/4th a inch of control from the center base which feels like a lot of room when your thumbs are resting on the joysticks, so if you noticed your a player who over aims often and sucks at all sensitivity levels than consider you might need a stiffer springs for your panic aim, Often its not that a player sucks at aiming its because everybody reacts differently to tension, Controllers come with a stock springs and joystick heights and a outer diameter size and most games don't allow you to change the joystick response curve which most players call acceleration which can become frustrating if you prefer a fast sensitivity but a slower slope before the max speed.

So I was fixing my DS4 but needed help from my dad with the soldering part, my dad used a solder (which clearly didn't work as good as we thought it would be) and a desolder pump but it won't suck anything so my dad just used a pin to push through the part where we couldn't get it with a tweezer. Well, my question is my Audio jack seems not working correctly, the mic works but there aren't any sounds coming out from the earphone. So I was wondering if we could swap out the audio, or change the board since there's a possibility my dad cut a line or something? I am honestly clueless right now and the last thing I wanted is to buy another DS4 lol, any suggestion is welcome.
