How to change a Brita Filter - Maxtra Filter

🇬🇧 I think this is probably the best video for the Brita water filter on RU-vid. It goes much further than just changing the water filter, it actually shows you how to set the whole jug up. I agree with some people that the instruction manual is useless and confusing with its silly pictures. Good point too regarding using the filter for a little longer than the month. I often think these manufacturers deliberately tell you to change things much quicker than you need too just to sell the products.

Absolute star!! thanking you from the botom of my brita jug!! i've never really understood how often to change the filter or what the little clicky thing on the lid represended. neither could i find anyone who did. once again thankyou.

Your video was a large part of what enabled me to justify getting some new cartridges. It’s been more than a year since my housemate left one of these in my possession. The water where we are is pretty damn good by itself, i enjoy having a carafe of filtered water available for any circumstance. It never got much use, i usent to be overly focused on hydration. The water filter cartridge Im about to change has been going for most likely 24 mo. Never noticed a change in the quality of the water over time however I’m preparing for any noticeable change in quality now that i put a new cartridge in. TBH I’m keen on washing the entire jug regularly, it stays spotless inside. It’s just as well the cartridges don’t allow anything back into the water when they are old, I’d have been drinking a stern brew of “stuff” in the last 6mo.

Great tutorial - I subscribed. Thanks for the tips on flashing the filter twice before using it and on watering your plants so you don't waste water. And I wouldn't think of washing the jug as it's only water and I keep it clean any but it's a good idea.

Great video. I wasn't aware of the washing the jug components each filter change in hot soapy water so thanks. They say change the cartridge every 4 weeks but it would be far better to specify it by say every 150 jug fills etc. Thanks again for the video.

Fantastic explanation! I also couldn’t make out what the instructions on the packet was saying, either. My private carer actually put the filter straight in and we started using it like that. I think I had the gunk of the toxic ingredients of the filter possibly. I put the filter straight in once again and then told myself that I should watch a tutorial on this. So I followed your instructions to the t except I only poured water into the new filter as I had already done this initially. Thank you so much 🙏🏼!

I have let my filter go way too long due to laziness, the water still tasting fine, the instructions are ridiculous and my mum used to get frustrated with me and just do it herself haha she has passed away recently and it's funny the things that make me think of her. Thank you for the video. I bought the same Brita filter but before using I didnt put Maxtra Filter in water. It turned out, first Filter must be lowered into water and then shaken. I hope it won't affect on Filters work. And now I will know how it must be done correctly.

1.Remove old filter, 1.Clean out jug with warm soapy water 3. Open new filter 4.Fill just the jug (clear plastic) part with water 5.Immerse filter in jug for a minute approximately (to get any bubble outs). 6.Put filter in translucent plastic part 7.Empty jug full of water 8.Put translucent part back in jug (so all 3 parts are connected; filter, translucent plastic and clear plastic) 9.Fill with water - knowing that you do not need to change your filter anytime soon. :)

Ditto on all positive comments. Note .. live Thames water area .. filter rarely lasts more than 26 days but still cost effective to buying bottled water if you are NOT metered

You can lever the timer unit out using a screwdriver, thats what the slot is for and then you put the whole unit in a dishwasher or sink...no problems!
