Get them as tight as you can, then fully tighten once on the ground, the wheel will just spin when you try to fully tighten them with it off the ground.
@@ryonbrand7885use a torque wrench to tighten to specs on the ground too, stepping on it is a good way to break them or have trouble next time you take it off
@@davepearson6945 I use a impact tighten but not cranked drop it torque to the specs and take it down the road and every few miles check torque to make sure it doesn’t get loose after about 10 miles your good
@@ecarb_music I torque mine to 100 ft-lbs, it makes them stay tight, but ensures I can still easily break them loose with a star. I hate when tire shops use an impact on my lugs, because they usually go so tight that I have to get my impact to bust them loose.
That's awesome. However, it's a safer bet to put the doughnut on the rear and the rear tire on the front. If it blows you're less likely to lose control and wreck. Stay safe!
It is but at the same time it shluld be fine if your not being dumb i dont go over 20 and just get it home but if you have to go at higher speeds definitely do this
Most donut tires are rated highway speeds or higher. You don't put the donut on most front ends because that's the drive axles and you need the same size tires on both sides to not destroy your transmission. On a suby it doesn't matter cause it's AWD.
@tommytutone222 still bad for your drive train to have different tire sizes. Same reason a mechanic will recommend replacing all tires on an awd car rather than 1 or 2. Still should put a full size tire on the steering axle to maximize traction.
I had a friend who was blind and he built his house and taught his kids how to drive, he is also a mechanic on cars he hand dug a well with my husband and I, and even witched it, and told us where to dig, and he chops his own firewood, and has a couple of fingers missing from doing that, but nothing stopped him from doing anything, he was working on a mobile home it was up on a jack and it fell and broke his back and he was in the hospital for about six months came out walking and back to working on whatever needed to be done. His name was Perry Stoner and I will never forget him and his family, RIP Perry💞
He still fucked it up bad. You never lower the jack before getting every lug nut as tight as you possibly can and in a star pattern to ensure that it’s flush with the rotor. After that you need to torque it to spec. They sell lug nut wrenches that torque it to spec at Walmart for $30.
@@lynnroy2887 for people who don't know how to save money and don't have the tools like jack stands and a floor jack in the first place The things that come with cars for highway repair are the cheapest possible, do not trust a scissor jack put in the trunk of a car made in the past 30 years
Hey idk if anyone told you this but a Donut on an AWD vehicle will wear and tear out the differential on which ever end you put it on . With Awd vehicles it’s best to have a full size spare
One love !! If your just going a short distance a spare tire on the front fine. But always try to put donut on back and good tire for the steer tire !!! A lot safer
Never put a donut on the front of your car unless its rear wheel drive, front tires do twice the work turning and moving the car if its awd or fwd and you are putting more stress on something that is ment to work for getting you to the next town in a emergency.
I watched this twice, I didn’t even catch it the first time, he said “I think I hit a screw”, I gasped and said “wait what?” Out loud 😂 I was more impressed by his changing the tire, that’s not something I’ve ever attempted.
Your post a jacket up a tiny bit before you pop the Lugnuts so not all the way on the car is pushing to one side, therefore will not mess up your suspension
Not too bad dude just don't keep the spacesaver on get the tire replaced on the original wheel the space saver is only meant for a certain amount of use
You shouldnt put the donut on the front because it can affect your steering and on a Fwd vehicle it will destroy your transmission over time. You should put it on the back even if you have a differential but you should change it asap to not cause damage to the differential. One love ❤❤❤
Space savers usually match diameter wise they’re just narrower. No point putting yourself in more danger messing around in the road for longer, just drive carefully.
@@Jonathan_Doe_either way it does most of your breaking along with all of the steering and most of the going. You want the full sized on the front, they are usually only rated for 55mph n if you do have a blow out it’s worse up front
So, cool. But just the sake of it, you’re not supposed to put donuts on the front. Both steer tires have to be full size tires. You gotta lift the back first, and rotate the rear tire with the donut. Then you put the good rear tire on the front. That is of course with the one exception, your cars tires are staggered. Don’t exceed 80km/h and keep in mind they have a max mileage, usually 80-100km in distance.
Just so you know in the future that type of jack is for emergencies only and they can slip out or tip over. I had it happen when changing my brakes once, but having your legs underneath the car while using that jack could end badly
You shouldn't put those donuts on the front corner. They're not really designed for the load. You should put the good tire from the rear on the front so you have better control when turning and braking
Who taught you to change a tire. Next time put all the nuts on, lower the car so the tire touches the ground but doesn't spin when you tighten the nuts, tighten the nuts good. Lower the car all the way then tighten the nuts a little more. With only 2 nuts on and all the weight of the car in the wheel the wheel doesn't seat all the way to the hub l, the wheel can fall off while driving cause of that.
Boss man great job but always pre tighten them lug nuts before u drop the jack. Your very lucky the tire didn't slip and fall off from the studs while you lowered the car down to the ground. I hope your wife reads this to you so you know for in the future.
Not bad, for extra safety you can put the spare under the car while taking the old one off, then put the old one under the car when putting the spare on
Only advise I have is . If u don’t wana sit on the side of the road Be in danger of being hit for so long but don’t wana drive any further because u don’t wana wreck your rim . Buy a 40-70 Jack from harbor freight. Keep it in the box in ur trunk so it don’t take up room or roll around . And that will Jack you up and let you down way way way faster !
Homies trying to give him suggestions in the comments like he’s gonna read them…. But fr if someone is reading them tell him to snug the lug nuts up before dropping the car then tighten them all the way
