Lovely thanks. I'm on holiday and bought a minelab equinox 800, this gives me the confidence to take out the battery so I can put the detector itself in the checkin luggage on the plane, so I can bring it home with me ;D

Thanks for that Geoff I put mine on charge two days ago and the green light is on constant but the battery indicator only show two bars so i think it's time for a new battery.
Great video Geoff! Noted your comment about owning a Simplex. I expect it will also need a new battery at some point, and hope that you can make a video on a battery replacement on that machine too.
FYI, I've had 3 Equinoxe's flood on me and they were all covered by warranty and the detector wasn't taken below 1.2 Mts. Apparently that white dot on the battery compartment cover is a gauze type material and it's not really waterproof. I will be plugging that entirely with silicone to try to get it waterproofed & I've been told that the warranty would still be honoured.
Would like to see a video on how to change the battery on the simplex & where can you buy the replacement battery for it. Then I might go & buy a simplex detector they seem to be good detectors.
As far as I can tell they seem to be a sealed unit. I had a look and can't find a way in. I have got rid of my simplex because the equinox clearly out performs.
Hi it has been a couple of years since I did this. The outer ones are three mmI think the inner one was 2 mm. That was from memory it is so easy to do.
What size is the small set screw on the battery allen wrench? I cant find anything to fit. U said the larger key was 3 mil so im guessing theyre both metric
I think it has got either silicon round the edge or it is the foam tape. It might be worth trying to slide two thin folk handles down the edge and gently wiggling it out.
@@BeepingMad Someone in factory didnt stick the battery into the seal so over time it wedged down in bottom, managed to batter the handle till it came loose :)

I found the battery type is a 266501p1s. They are cheep enough but there a come without connectors. I might backward engineer a minelab battery and solder one together if a replacement battery can not be found
@@BeepingMad Thank you for your answer. Yes, there are some battery without connectors...I´m not in this stuff, but with the right scheme i could contact an expert to do the job.
Hello, i was wondering, where can I buy that battery as the ebay link is not working, minelab told me that I have to pay for battery after 13 months...not happy..
That doesn't sound right bc they come with a 3 year warranty and here in Australia it would be changed no problem. I'd insist they change it bc it's still covered
