Great video. Love the camera angles. Quick question, why didn’t you talk about checking the space between the dado and the break?

CHANGING the brake cartridge is, indeed easy and fast. However, there’s a big difference between changing the brake and REPLACING the brake. When the brake activates and slams into the blade… getting the blade/brake out of the saw can be a hassle-experience speaking here. I wish they sold the brakes in six-packs. I keep activating the brake AFTER I have shut off the power… yes, the SawStop will engage the brake if there is ANY motion left in the blade. BANG! Interestingly, if the blade is barely moving when the brake activates it doesn’t destroy the blade as it does when the saw is running flat out at 4,000+ rpm. Anyway, although it costs a hundred bucks and some hassle to replace an activated brake, the SawStop is really the only way to go. ANY accident involving a table saw is far more expensive than the premium cost of a SawStop. People who think they can beat the odds are the same people who don’t wear their seatbelts. Oh well, take your chances.

Thanks for your input and you’re correct - I set the brake off with a wet glue seam by accident and it was a hassle to remove. Still, worth the safety feature in my opinion 👍🏻

I'm new to the saw stop and managed to activate the brake when the blade hit a buried nail in the wood. All is well except I can't get the key back into the new brake. It's making me crazy and wonder what I'm doing wrong. I have looked at the manual and a dozen videos. Yours is by far the best of any that I have seen, Since I haven't used the dado set yet your video helped on that and was the best ever. BUT what's with the key?

Sounds odd, I’m not certain. I wonder if something happened when the brake tripped. The key on mine has always been very easy to remove. You might try calling their customer support, I’ve heard their support system is great.

Hey, I’m not for sure. That piece has never been in the way on mine. Not the greatest answer but you might reach out to sawstop, I’m honestly not sure without seeing it in person
