Tutoriel disponible en français au lien suivant: • Comment changer une co... Tutorial about a timing belt + accessories belt exange on a 1.8L petrol engine ( EW7J after year 2004) from Peugeot/Citroën vehicles.
OK, all done, the lower belt took 2 hrs to get on, All done and working fine. Took me 2 days. Thank you so much Olivier for being so kind and responding to me, most of the time. This would of costed 600 pounds in Sweden, that is why l gave this a go. For any of you out there that thinks it will be as easy as Olivier shows you, Beware took me 2 days of problems on most of the steps.
I think by far the most thorough and best video of this job and engine I coudl find. Could not have done that without your video Olivier. Merci beaucoup Olivier.
Hi Olivier, you should have your own T.V. Show! Great tutorial & very very clear precise instructions , also very good English but I love your accent, vive la France.
Hi Olivier, thanks for the reply,as you say if I were in any doubt about the positioning then I too would mark everything,I have been working on Citroens since the early seventies, but this is new to me and the many people I have asked including Citroen main agents! Anyway I put it all back together we're I thought it should be and it runs and seems ok,but I am still going to try and find out the correct way of doing it,then I will strip it and check just to be sure. Thanks again Steve
Further to my last post, I had a feint rattling sound from the engine on tickover and when I changed the belt I noticed that the damper on the exhaust cam sprocket was loose it should not have any free movement. A new sprocket was fitted.
i made a very good flywheel locking tool, but as the movement is nearly one tooth from undoing to doing up the crankshaft bolt which locks the freewheeling spocket in place, timing between the cam and the crank can be out by nearly 1 tooth
Hello Olivier, I try to fill up gearbox oil, but I cannnot close it back with the nuts.( which is like a dipstick) Is there a certain metod to do ? Thank you very much.
Just changed my belt, pump, idler and tensioner, its the same model (EW7J4) but a 2001 yr so the crankshaft pulley arrangement was slightly different. I will confirm that some of the fixings are VERY difficult to reach because of the lack of clearance. Just a note, the screws holding the bottom cover have different sizes for some reason! the top right one is larger than the rest. Thanks again for a clear video.
