This video shows how to mount 4-wheeler, ATV, Go-Cart, and Lawnmower tires yourself, at home, using no special tools. I show how to quickly break tire beads, change the tire, and reset the bead.
In this video, I'm mounting wider tires onto a Suzuki z90's stock 5.5 inch wheels.
The Tire Pressure Gauge I recommend for low-pressure tires:
amzn.to/2H6aMAD
The off-brand, cheap tires I'm mounting in this video (by the way, they are awesome, but actual size is more like 17x8x8, rather than 18x9.5x8, which makes them perfect for youth quads): amzn.to/37ifCFW
The cheap tires I will be mounting on the front of this Suzuki z90: amzn.to/2ScRYGw
Tire Valve Core Tool Set:
amzn.to/2ve70Tf
Note: I am an Amazon Associate and earn a small percentage from purchases at the above links. The price is the same whether you use the link or not. Thank you!

One other tip, too make the tire more flexible leave the tire out in the sun when you pull the tire off the rim. A cold rubber is much stiffer and a warm to hot tire is very good. On the tire and beating the tire off, we use a long screw drive with a cheater for more leverage. A good video fwiw

I've been changing my dirt bike & dual-sport tires for years, but I thought the smaller-diameter ATV tires would be a PITA. You made it look like something I can handle. I figure I'll give it a shot. What I loved about this video: Mentioned the simple tools we can use if we have them, then proceeded to show us the hard way if we don't. Never once heard a word of frustration - I know I have when using screwdrivers on my mower tires... Honest response at the end. What I didn't like: Nothing. Great video man! @@FarmDad I actually just tried changing an atv tire last night.... I was able to break the bead on one side - but the other side just won't go. I think I"m going to go get a tire changing tool with bead breaker from HarborFreight for $40 :/ EDIT: Tire changing tool was AWESOME for breaking the bead and for getting the tire off, but didn't help get the tire back on. Had to work tediously on the ground to get the tires onto the rims. That kicked my butt...

I've got a friend who once worked in a tire shop for a long time. I swear he could take off and remount any tire with not much more than a Popsicle stick! Like you, he puts his entire weight and whole body into the project. My dad ran a service station for a long time and I watched the guys fix flats all the time. After watching people like you and those guys make it look easy, which I know it really isn't, I am tempted to give it a try myself! I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing it.

Love this down to earth video. My dad and I used to change his tires on his pickup truck and car the same way. We used to break the bead by putting our heels and pressing up and down, that was in the early 50's, it worked then. Your way of breaking the beads with your wife's car is the only way to go. Thanks for being honest. God Bless...

Thanks for the video, really helped me changed 2 tires. I used a bobcat to drive on the tires to unseat the bead, worked great. Also I have a stove in my shop and I put new tires in front of the blower , turning tires around periodically, the heat really help the stiff tires loosen up a bit. Took no time to mount after they heated up. I would recommend replacing the valve stems, you don't want to mount a new tire only to discover after that the old stem is no good.

Quick tip: To put a lot of air into your tire with the valve stem removed, push the quick connect on the end of your air hose onto the valve stem of the rim and get a whole lot more air to bead seen the tire on the rim. When both beads are pop'ed on remove the quick connect from the valve stem and insert the and insert the valve into the stem them air up to the desired pressure using an air chuck on your air hose. Way to go. I have changed a few this way but needed a refresher. Gets a little harder when you're 72. Headed back out to pull the rim off the mower and put the last side on. Only thing to add is that if you have problems with the tire slipping around, use a vise grip on the rim flange to keep it from rotating while you are trying to mount it slowly and prying little bits in just like he showed. Pretty smart and you can tell he is a thinker when thing don't go quite like planned.

Time and cost saved, but also skill learned. I bought a set of 3 tire spoons that also came with new valve cores and caps for $25. Called a few tire shops and they all wanted $75-100 to mount all 4. I live in a rural Northern California county where burrs and stickers are a certifiable pain in the rear when they constantly get stuck in my tires. Your procedure works for me since it looks like you've been digging in my tool box. I have an old Snap-on pry bar (it looks like a 2' flat blade with a bent nose) and another long screwdriver that will work just fine. I'm planning to pull both front tires, to start with, and put tubes in them. The extra thickness should help keeping stickers from getting through. I have some of that "slime" to seal tires but I'd really rather not use it. That's just a mess if you ever have to pull that tire in the future. Oh, I have an old heat gun (industrial hair-dryer) that should warm up the tire pretty well. That's another good idea from one of your viewers... keep the good stuff comin'!! Thanks for a very worthwhile video. 👍 -Gary

Thanks so much Farm Dad for this video. I sure didn't want to replace my garden cart because of the tires & I figured, heck I can do this myself. And I did!!! And so you know, I'm a 74 yr. old grandma. It took some muscle, I ended up with a black eye from the crowbar kicking back on me, and a g'daughter helped me finish! But, happy dance, looky what I did! Thanks again for the video and very, very helpful hints from you & your subscribers.

Great video. Useful tips I learned over the years, on reluctant tires put a ratcheting strap around the center and crank it up to force the rubber side wider. Water poured over the rim where the tire seats on the rim will help it make a seal faster. We used to put the tires on and slam them down on a piece of plywood on the ground to force the rubber out onto the rim. More lube equals less muscle needed.

You my friend are a tire machine! That's how it's done. Money saved is money earned. When you learn to do those kinds of things the old fashioned way you don't take it for granted. I broke down and bought one of the mini tire changers for my business and let me tell you I appreciate it more than I can express after doing it the old way so often.

Your video was really helpful everything you said was true about having to take it to a dealer. I checked on a set of tires for my fourtrax 300 and the price he gave me I went on line an bought them, so by the time I would have had to load, drive and wait to get serviced it adds up. I did it myself in an hour or less. Great video!!👍🏻

Legit!! I know out in WYO, they charge $20/tire. I’d rather have $160 for more fuel OR ammo vs paying to have that done on 2 ATVs. Plus, it’s great to get the kids involved so they realize that the toys need maintenance and it isn’t all fun and games to own them. There is responsibility too.

You made it look easy man. One of my tires had a pretty fast "slow leak" from around the entire bead, so I unmounted the tire, cleaned up the beads on the wheel and tire, and went to remount the same tire. I have tire levers and used soapy water, but I still beat up the tire bead so much it exposed and broke some of the steel wires. I need a new tire now, and some more practice.

Thts why it's always smarter to go to a professional tht has a tool to do the job!! Cause tires r not cheap!!! And tht does look risky and def time consuming . U can't tell me it takes lotta time or money to just run to tire shop on your way to do whatever else u gotta do in town!! I mean cool method it works!! But nah not worth the damage it could do.
