THANK YOU! You just saved me a days worth of work. I pulled mine through the trunk per you video in about 90 seconds. I plan on leaving mine manual at least for the time being so I'm draining the hydraulics for now.
Thanks so much for this great video. Once the cables were unclipped from the bracket facing the engine the motor unit came straight out. There maybe a clip tie that would need to be forced.
We did this as well and shot the motor with a ton of WD40 and some electronics cleaner etc... Just left the old motor on, rust and all. It worked for a week and then stopped... I coated it in WD40 again, and its been working for almost a year. Every couple of months i'll spray some WD40 into the motor opening and no problems.!
We also just put it in a plastic cup and stuck it behind the carpet. This original design has to be about the dumbest engineering project I've ever seen! Yeah, lets put an electric motor in a container that plugs up with leafs etc....LOL
How did you get the bottom casing off? I'm doing this to my z4 and am stuck on this step. I even cut the zip line that ties it to the roof mount (The fin looking thing that you broke off)...How'd you break it? Mine won't seem to break, despite other piece of trim bring super brittle and breaking when I don't want them to....
Nice video, can you tell me how you got the top of the plastic container off that the motor is in? I can't seem to get it off. The motor is still in the drain pan and I can't get it to budge. Hoping if I get the top off I can get the motor out. Is there a spot you pressed on the cap where it's clipped?
Then just as me, you have an hydraulic line leak and the hydraulic lines will need to be replaced. Check this website out www.tophydraulics.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw-L-ZBhB4EiwA76YzOb-7mGA8Az76KyzO0A7ko6-b9SEL4xSt804kmekOkW3FeNlVjO3k2BoCam0QAvD_BwE
Dear Sir Escamilla ! Merci beaucoup pour votre aide... It is extremely éducatif ! will you please contact me at your convenience at my email . We have a 2003 Z4 and i will like to have your attention for a new propriétaire. We have the space and garage, and the car and Tools ! mostly metric and Américain. Merci Beaucoup ! S
I rebuilt my motor, I didn't test it when it was down, put it back on and worked only half way, I dont know if I have a leak or I need to bleed the lines, once weather is better I'm gonna test it and see where is the leak and yes, 400 for boths but I'm gonna put the motor in the trunk..p.s. you knw how to bleed the lines??
Julian Martinez not really sure how to bleed the lines, maybe disconnecting them from the softtop motor and manualy move the soft top up and down to release the hydraulic oil.
@@cband44 I need to find out too, just imagine that all this time thinking it was a leak and maybe i just need to bleed the lines lol!! Thanks anyway man...p.s. did you order the rebuilt hinges ??
Julian Martinez not yet , i might end up buying a used one since is my daily driver and i really cant afford to be without the car for 2 weeks or so while they get rebuild,
Danny Brasher actually after installing i found i had a hydraulic hinge fluid leak m, now i have to take out the soft top and send the hydraulic hinges to top hydraulics for rebuild $400😣
