Just did mine today, but I changed both filters. The paper filter was a doozy, had 4 bolts and a bit tricky to reach. I drained just over 3.5L into the pan and a bit more came out when I pulled the filters. I put a full 4L bottle in and ran the engine while switching gears during the fill. I did break my cap as you mentioned haha, nearly impossible to get old plastic to bend without cracking.
I believe my car has the same transmission. CVT8 I use the extractor to drain the fluid from the dipstick pipe. It's around 3 litres every time Which is similar to your 3.5 quart
Why the overfill step at the end of you matched the fluid drained? Why didn't u change the transmission filter? Will you change fluid again as the transmission has much more than 4 quarts inside that didn't get flushed out? If yes, after how long?
The fluid actually looked pretty good . I have not had this car long so I don't know the history and wanted to do a drain fill. Usually I will wait and do the next about a year later . If the fluid is dirty about 6 months . I like to figure on changing it every 30k regularly. I may also change out the filter at a later time , but it is a little more involved. This car was most likely not filled correctly from before and that is why I verified with the overflow. Thanks for the feedback.
My car is slipping in first gear from a stop after it's been running for a while. Usually, turning the car off and on will fix the issue, but I need a quick fix for the weekend. Would adding a quart or two of transmission fluid help with the issue?
The main reason is the vehicle is new to me , so I do not know the history if it has been changed at all. I will most likely follow up with this drain fill in about a year. This also gave me the opportunity to make sure the fill level was correct . I like to figure on changing the fluid every 30k. Thank you for watching.
