How to change engine oil and oil filter for Vauxhall / Opel Astra H
Astra H mk5 2004 - 2009 Oil Change
1. If the engine is cold, start it and let it run for five minutes to warm the oil. If it’s hot, wait at least 30 minutes to avoid getting burned.
2. Always use jack stands. Never work under a car that’s supported by a jack only.
3. Always hand-tighten the filter. Never use a filter wrench.
4. Use dipstick to check the oil level in the engine. Don't fill up too much.

My friend has tried removing the oil filter with his hand, then with a chain, and after watching this video he decided to put on a rubber glove as a joke. He took it off instantly. This tutorial helped out massively.

Great video, thanks! Did service today on a friends car, had checked the autodoc-video on how to change oil filter but on 2006-2007 Astra H it's located underneath, not on top like in that video. Had to look a while before I found your video. :)

I usually flush the engine with boiling water from the kettle to help get rid of all the old nasty oil. Then I run it without oil for a few days to fully dry out the engine. Then fill back up with oil. Tried and tested method used on all 84 of the cars I've had in the past 18 months.

Would 5 40w oil be okay to run in same engine but on 90000 miles or should I use 5 30w how much does it take liters to fill?

Andrew Warrington recommended is 5w30 :) but i use 10w40, and its about 4,5 litres

5W30 and 5W40 with Dexos 2 approval are the right oil. 10w40 is not the right one.

if you are buying from euro car parts just simply type ur reg number and it will automatically find for you. Hope it helped

It is necessary to know the exact type of engine (for example Z16XEP ... Z16XER are not the same). Then choose from the catalog, for example catalog.mann-filter.com/EU/eng. Hot oil I recommend to run for 2 hours. Fill the new filter with 1/2 volume of new oil before installation
