For anyone looking at this video. Make sure to run clean oil threw the engine without the drain plug in. It picks up the remain old oil and clean out for a fresh pan. Kinda

Arguably a waste of oil. If you really want, change the oil, drive it around the block and change it again.

that's strange I have the 5.2 liter and mine takes just under 5 quarts. You sure you didn't add too much oil?

I just got to say it's hard to knock a man for doing things for themselves. Especially when it is something they've never done before. But at the same time it's just as hard to respect a man that hire's somebody to do everything for them. So good job! The key is knowing when you're in over your head and when to get some assistance. This last point is where I still have trouble from time to time. LOL!

WOW! I sure wish you'd have clarified the amount of oil! My son (who's just completed his first oil change) watched the video and changed the oil exactly as you stated, thinking the engine (a rebuilt 318) that I just bought used from someone else, was large enough to take the 10 quarts you said to have ready. You put the oil in in the video without clarifying that, so perhaps you should clarify for those who've never done it on our own before. Either way, I'm thankful for your making it...that's an easy fix. I was wondering if you could show the location of the oil sending unit on this engine? It looks very similar to what's in my '94 Ram B 250, and I want to make sure that it's not a problem, even though the light coming on is most likely too much oil at the moment. It was only driven a couple of miles before parking it since the oil change. Do you think it'll be okay? Sure hope so. Thanks and God bless.

Hi...yes, I see that now. My son watched it earlier, and while I sat with him, just watched the beginning, as he was going to do the changing...so all I saw was the 2 5 qt containers of oil...I only realized it later because I came back and watched it again after taking it a mile or two to take him home, and realized that the pressure gauge was still lit up, only now it wasn't just at idle, but while driving. It bottomed out, as far as pressure goes. I know it needs to come out, but the issue now is that his tools are with him, and I'm not sure if I should drive it to get them and take oil out at his house (about a mile away). Would it hurt the engine that quickly? Thanks so much. Oh, and can you show us where the oil sending unit is in this engine? Please? I'm wondering if that might be the problem, since it wasn't too little oil before. Any other suggestions are most welcome. Thanks again, God bless. :)

+Easy Steps oh, wow! I'll just watch it all again, then. just to clarify, I know where to put the oil in. .. want to know about oil sending unit. .. sensor on some, I guess. I saw other videos with nightmarish locations. It's an electrical part. Maybe these other guys call it the wrong thing? ;)

Hi again...thanks for being so helpful...yes, I know he put too much in now, and we've made arrangements to have him brought to the van bright and early before it's started. The reason I had changed the oil and all was originally because the light was coming on when I idled, but going off while driving. I'm just checking to see where the sensor is in case that still happens. I'll be having him remove half the oil first thing, and then checking the dipstick to ensure it's at the proper level before doing anything else (including starting it). Thanks so much for all your help and kindness. I'm subscribing to this channel because I just bought this used van, and now I know where to find answers to any other questions I may have. Bless you!

What year Dodge Van was this? Curious if there is room to run a 1qt filter or the longer 2qt filter? Never liked the Dixie cup filters Dodge used.

Didn't like the video for the reasons stated below. Also, didn't "prefill" the filter with new oil. Not good. Also, didn't torque the oil pan drain plug. Important. Can easily strip them out. All in all? Not a good "how to."

Im workin on an 84 and i cannot find the dipstick worth anthin can i get some help?

It should be in the passenger side corner or it could be a broken top from dipstick so it's not visible. Please check and share the results. Thanks for watching it.

@@EasySteps_Sidhu is it supposed to be near the trans fluid dipstick cause thats where my first instict was to look and it wasnt there

Yeah, that's I was thinking probably broken off, that needs to be repaired/welded because it's not something you can replace it. Good luck with your DIY project.
