In this video I show exactly how to change frame rate in Premiere Pro. If you’re working with Premiere Pro mixed frame rates I’m going to show you exactly how you can change them to make them all the same or to downsize them to the exact frame rate you want. This isn’t just how to change frame rate in Premiere Pro 2020 because this same method can be used in all versions of Adobe Premiere Pro. I also show you the same Premiere Pro FPS settings I use in all my videos! The Premiere Pro frame rate concept can be confusing so I made this video to help you have a better understanding. You can change the frame rates for video to slow it down and make it look buttery smooth! By the end of this video you will know exactly how to change the frame rate in Premiere Pro. It case you were confused this is also how to change frame rate in Premiere Pro CC.

Great video! It helps but when I followed your steps, I lost my original clips in my sequence. The audio is synced and exported properly but I no longer have my original clips sequenced. Any suggestions? I do not want to have to re-edit. Thank you in advance!

hai, ive made a videoclip with different video material sources and when im exporting it doesn't look supergood, it looks like the frame rates are not all the same which results in kind of blurry unclear video, is there a way to make all material the same frame rate after editing, or is it really necessary to take these steps before dragging your clips to the timeline?

How do I show mixed frame rates for a smartphone review? But I want everything in real time without any slow footage. I want to show how 4K 60 FPS, 1080p 60 FPS and 1080p 30 FPS would look like. Is that possible? And will the mixed frame rates be noticeable on the footage? Or will all footage appear that they are just shot on a single same frame rate?

I have a question. I have a project I'm working on that should have been in 23.9 fps but I accidentally brought in a 50 fps clip into the timeline first and edited after. I have a few 50 fps shots that I was going to use for slo mo and most shots are 23.9. I went to export and clicked match sequence settings and it showed that my sequence was at 50 fps instead of 23.9. Is there a way to salvage all my work? I exported it at 23.9 fps and it was a little choppy. Is there a way to alter the sequence once its already made? Thanks in advance

Just go into sequence settings and change your fps to 23.976. You'll probably have to go in and adjust some of you 50fps clips but that's going to be your best bet

Can you tell me that when I export my video on Adobe premiere pro, it tells us the estimated file size is 70 MB but when it is exported, the file size is between 1.5 - 2 MB? Please help me

Went over to a new PC with an old project, and everything turned into 24 frames per second because a single imported piece of footage was that framerate (everything else was in 60). Took some tweaking but glad it looks normal again.. I was freaking out

nice tutorial..but what if we want everything to play in normal speed ( 24 fps) and do slow motion whenever it is needed ? I mean we shot a clip at 120 fps.. but we want to play normal speed (24 fps) and only a part of it at slow motion... in your example the files of higher frame frame play in slow motion

when you render, render it as MPEG2 and you can uncheck your fps and manually set what you want the output display FPS as, so a video shot in 240fps can be reduced to 24fps, if you want to do what he's saying here, honestly I don't recommend it, i prefer to do a little bit of math, and change the speed/duration to be a percentage of whatever I'm looking for, so if i want to output a 120fps video in slowmotion, I simply change display speed to 25%, for a 4x slower video and I can clip out the sections I want to be slow and create transitions that way where in his method, you really cant do much for editing the slow motion video

Hey! Great video! I was randomly using the rate stretch tool to alter the video's length, but some animations started looking choppy. That's why right?

For sure, when you stretch the clip and the frames don't exist it'll make it look choppy. Sometimes you can fix it with optical flow but if you stretch it really far it's hard to save.

Nope, when you crush 120fps down to 24fps it actually makes it look more smooth and cinematic

It's just because the clip was slowed down when you changed it from 30fps to 23.976fps

@@ikerfater for clips that you want to play back at normal speed I would shoot them at 23.976fps and for clips that I want to be in slow motion I would shoot them at a higher frame rate (30p, 60p, 120p) and modify them to 23.976fps inside Premiere Pro. I hope this helps!

Double check and make sure that you only have your video selected when doing this. If you have audio selected too that could be causing the issue

Search inside Premiere for the effect "Posterize Time" and add it to the clip you want to change the frame rate of. It will allow you to change the frame rate without affecting the speed of the clip. I hope this helps!

You can but it's a lot of extra steps. What I would do is pull it off the timeline, modify it and then place it back on the timeline. That would be the fastest option

If your entire project is made at 60fps, you want to convert the middle to 24fps, then you can change the frame rate by clicking on render and Replace.❤

Save a step: You can just drag your interpreted footage into the work area and it will create a sequence with a matching frame rate by default.

If you do shoot at 144 fps or higher I would only shoot at those frame rates with the intention of it being a slow motion shot. Dropping 144 fps to 24 fps in post is going to be buttery smooth

If you change the frame rate after you've put it on the timeline it's going to affect the speed of the clip so if you've synced the clips to music it may create an issue

Cause you could be changing the speed of the clip. For example if you drop 120fps to 24fps it will be slower

@@37quest 24fps is that cinematic frame rate that you typically see in movies. So what I do when I’m shooting video is shoot my videos at a higher frame rate because I intend to slow them down(drop them to 24fps in Premiere). If I don’t want a video to be in slow motion I’ll shoot that video at 24fps

@@miguelfalcao8787 Correct, it's because you shot the video at a higher frame rate and compressed it down to 24fps which slowed it down. If you want to change the frame rate but not have it affect the speed of the clip just going into the "effects" tab and add "posterize time" to the clips and change it to the frame rate you like.

Changing the frame rate of video in Adobe's Premiere Pro was not difficult up to 2020. However post 2020 Adobe have made this more difficult, especially for digital artists wishing to import and export scanned small gauge film at 16 fps and 18 fps. Sometime the intellect of administration at Adobe beggars belief.
