Just a note - I had about evertything that could go wrong go wrong when I did this. Be sure to jack up BOTH sides of the car evenly when doing this or the sway bar will not allow you to insert properly into the strut when you install a new one. Also, should you pull the axle out from the transmission by accident (like I did), watch the video 'Acura RSX, how to pop that stubborn axle back in (Same for Honda's)' to tell you how to get the axle reinserted. Once mine was aligned, it still wouldn't go in so I had to tap the part where he's holding his palm in the video and it popped back in. All in all, not that horrible a job (but those strut assemblies are HEAVY) - just thought I'd give some advice if it didn't go as smoothly for you!!

Guys, the shock axle should be tighten with a Torque wrench ALWAYS... Not with the pneumatic pistol!

What are the torque specs for the bolts on a 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander SE?

Why not get this boot changed? It's cheap and new strut will last longer. Same as the coil. They usually get shrunk by the weight of the car as it ages and it causes that new shocks work in wrong conditions.

the MOT.....many companies test the shock absorbers automatically as standard (they'll tell you when the shock absorber is at the end of its life span)
