Changing the top mount bushing that had been popping when turning. I hope this helps you all. If you have any questions about how to do this or any other repairs or upgrades to your Pontiac G8 just comment below. Tips are welcome as well.

Good info and helpful overall. It's just hard to hear nuts being referred to as "bolts" and millimeters being confused with inches when discussing wrench sizes. With some terminology tweaks this would be a perfect video.

I am THANKFUL that you use a 10mm wrench to hold the shaft of the strut while you tighten the nut. Many youtubers don't do that, but use other methods that I won't mention that may damage the strut. VERY IMPORTANT! Good job!

Good video but as was mentioned in another comment, nuts screw onto bolts and I'd recommend using metric tools instead of the old English fractions of an inch wrenches and sockets - terrible measuring system. 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 mm are much easier to learn and use than 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" (now we're back to a 16th of an inch), 1/2", 9/16" 5/8"....etc. Also, the lateral bars that attach the struts to the body are "anti roll bars." I know many call them "sway bars" because it's easier but they don't help control sway (side to side), they help to limit body roll. If you assemble the front strut lower bolts and nuts and don't tighten them fully, you can possibly jack up the hub to simulate the car being on the ground, to push the lower hub firmly onto the camber adjusting bolt. Then tighten the two lower strut bolts to spec, attach the brake hose, abs wire, and anti roll bar link. Then lower the jack and put the wheel back on. Jack the car back up and remove the jack stand and put the car on the ground. Overall, it's a very helpful video.

Am I crazy or does the G8 have a different mounting system than normal cars? My wife's Ford edge has like 5 bolts in nder the hood ware the struts attach to to car. Then G8 it's just two rubber bushings with one nut?

Thanks! You would only need to compress the stock spring so you could only replace the top mount bushing.

Yes in my personal opinion a coil-over set is much better than the factory strut and spring set up. I can direct you to a good kit if you are interested. That you for the kind words.

I have a base model ‘08 g8 not a gt the. Bushing that came out is rubber I can’t find it anywhere. As well as the assembly. I took the passenger side out and it was bent. Went to the dealer and they said it was modified and isn’t stock. Where can I find the complete assembly?

Just curious if just changing the upper bushing and not the actual spring Mount why would you take the strut off. Leave the car sitting on tires take the nut off replace bushing and reinstall new bushing and nut and you're good to go.

Because of spring load. If you do it the way you're saying then it's not going to be a great outcome.
