Great video ... thanks! I need to do this on my 8hp Yamaha and reading about how it’s done is one thing, but actually seeing it done makes it super clear and understandable now.
You may already know this, but another service you can do when changing the gear oil is pull the prop off the shaft and inspect for fishing line wrapped around the shaft. Then apply new grease to the shaft and reinstall the prop.
@@OutOnTheReef seriously thanks! I changed my lower gear oil earlier today after watching your vid. It was exactly as you said. My oil was blue though and the new stuff I got was a blue color too. I wasn’t expecting that but the job was so easy after watching you do it. I want to do my impeller next. Looking into it. Thanks again and I subscribed. Peace out.
@@daddyjoonb4273 awesome cap. Im glad you got it done and i have a video showing how to change the impeller if you need it. Thanks for joining my channel👍👍👋
Your maintenance videos are great. Thank you so much for sharing. I do have a question that I thought you might be able to help with: I was performing my 100 hr service on my 2019 Yamaha 115LB. As I was pulling the cylinder #1 spark plug lead, my hand slipped off the boot. Unfortunately, my hand caught the cable and pulled it out of the boot. I inspected the ignition coil to determine how to replace the lead; however, it appears that the leads are hardwired into the ignition coil. Is that, in fact, the case. If so, do you know if replacing the ignition coil a plug-and-play repair? If I am able to replace just the lead, do the lead wires simply from the ignition coil, or does the ignition coil need to be dissembled? Thank you.
I've always Road Honda love the product until I bought my FJR 1300 Yamaha Sport Touring bike I was wondering if the Outboards are as good as the motorcycle
Yamaha builds a product that's why I trust it to cross the Atlantic to the Bahama Islands on a single engine I will not do that with a Mercury engine no offense to anybody
Recommend letting a lot more new oil leak out of that top screw when filling to watch for air bubbles that always come out! You def want to get all those air bubbles out especially when using a small hand pump like that.
Hey Captain how are you doing I hope all is well good morning what is your boat 21 or 23 foot and what does that Yamaha 200 Cruise that boat at like when you're at 3/4 of a throttle are you happy with that Yamaha
hello cap. amazon deleted my acc and the links was deleted by amazon request cap. sorry for the inconvenience, this is amazon fault i did not make that decision cap.
That's a great idea but right now I can't spend any money on the boat doing any improvements. The next thing I would like to do is install a Garmin radar
Can anyone tell me why it needs to be filled from the bottom and not the top? What happens if you were to fill from the top? And whats the name of the tool that screws in to fill it?
The reason to fill it from the bottom is to eliminate air bubbles and trap air and I placed the link of the tool that I use on the description below captain I hope this helps
I had to get a 13 pitch from another company dont remember the name im not usin the solas because was higher ther 14 pitch cap sorry i dont remember the exact pitch but i had to get smaller pitch because my added weight
@@OutOnTheReef I just checked the owners manual and the F90 also says engine oil and check fuel filter. The Yamaha 20 hour service kit comes w/ lower unit oil, engine oil, engine oil filter, and fuel filter.
@@BeatRock253 that is great it's better to be safe that way and change the oil filter to in my case it says not to change the oil filter in the initial 20 hours
Did you change this for the first 20 hours captain? I have the same engine at 20 hours right now and not exactly sure what needs to be replaced. Thank you captain
@@OutOnTheReef Did you change the fuel water separator and the engine fuel filter too? Thank you. Just subscribed to your channel few days ago and love your videos
@@vinhdoan2413 thank you for watching captain and yes I have videos showing the fuel separator and also the engine fuel filter check it out it's on my channel and thank you for watching👍
@@familiamotarica6616 now one important thing when you change the outdrive oil is make sure the outdrive is level that way you get the correct amount of oil coming out of the top
Capt pump slow you don't want any air bubbles in unit air equals no lube JT 🇺🇸🐟🎣⛱🛥😊😃🙏🏻 That is a mighty nice Yamaha you have on 21 cpph cabin boat they are made crooked in North Carolina Cpph= crooked Parker pilot house JT lol
@@OutOnTheReef Honestly i doubt they would ever know .. a secret for you to coat the berings and extend engine life massively is use a product called zddp and very few drops to oil . wear scar test have show barely any wear scars on load test when this is added to engine ... ( but any catyltic convertyers will fail faster )
@@demolaj1 that is a great idea but I never put my engine to a lot of strain I only run my engine at 4400 RPMs Max cruising speed 27 miles per hour so the oil never gets too dark because of that
@@OutOnTheReef your engine is designed to run , do not be afraid to give iit a stretch , but just make sure its protected with the best there is out there ... i would look into amsoil marine full synthetic with a small shot of zddplus , that engine will run smoother quietr and more Hp . you will feel the power . guaranteed .
@@demolaj1 thanks J you sound like you know what you're doing from experience , thanks for the great advice really appreciate the captain, navigate safe 😉
You had plenty of metal shavings. That is quite excessive and the shavings were embeded in the oil. Are you sure that is normal?? It looks excessive. There should be a few....very minimal amount.
