Is there anything wrong with pumping the oil in until it comes out the vent hole, replace the vent screw and then continue to pump the oil up into the reservoir? I've seen shops do this.

onemoreboat nope. Prob. Better way to do it. Removes all air from system for sure

Do not use this procedure to change gear lube in OMC or you will fry your unit.

Azznbad Yes, the OMC has a different procedure.
