How to Change Keybinds and What I Recommend for New Players - Guild Wars 2 

yeah i completely agree with you that players should map their keys to keybinds that they find most comfortable. I have a few friends who still struggle with the F keys but don't want to resort to pressing two keys for one skill. I'm sure there are other ways around it like buying an MMO mouse but i wouldn't ever suggest someone to buy a gaming peripheral unless that's something that they'd want to do xD but MMO mouses are really cool, i'm sure you make a good point that shift + other keys is a lot easier to do than using alt+(?). also yeah, the sooner they remap their keybinds the better so that they could spend their time learning the game to get to know the new keybinds. @@SalamanderSucksatGames Really? I can’t imagine anyone continuing to use the F keys? If you have to move your hands off of, or away from the main keys you use, then you are going to be less efficient. And yes, I have a MMO mouse which makes playing any game with lots of different key actions so much easier.

@@traveling.down.the.road56 yup! i have at least 3 friends who have talked to me about keybinds and they're still using the F keys. I use them too but I have a 75% keyboard and the F keys are pretty much pressed up against the number keys with no gaps like standard keyboards so i'm able to keep my hand comfortably on the main keys and reach for the F keys with no issue. but i can't speak for my other friends ahaha. i have no idea what kind of keyboards they use. oh nice! what do you have mapped to the buttons on your mmo mouse?

@@SalamanderSucksatGames I’m probably not the best optimized on my mouse, but use the 1 to 0 mouse keys for my weapon and skills attacks, shift key plus number keys on my mouse for the F key actions and mouse wheel for opening the inventory.

Thanks for the comment! I was actually considering an MMO mouse before but never ended up buying one. I did plan out what I wanted to do with the keys though. Pretty much the same as what I recommended in the video but i'd map the F1-F5 keys onto the 12 buttons and use the rest for mount keybinds since you can map specific mounts to specific keys. But i would make Z my raptor mount and X the mount/dismount for my skyscale (which is what i currently use for raptor and skyscale). that should leave room for the remaining 7 mounts to fit onto the 12 buttons! If it doesn't have the M4 and M5 (i think those are the names for the thumb buttons on standard mouses) then you can exclude two of the mounts being mapped to your mouse and figure out which two you'd like for dodge and heal. I know a lot of people still use the V key for dodge and it's still easy to hit so that shouldn't be an issue. Let me know what you decide to go with! Since I didn't end up getting the MMO mouse, idk if i would have stuck with what I suggested to you but that's definitely where I would have started. My current keybinds have changed slightly over the years as I found other things more convenient so it's not bad if you decide to change things from time to time.

@@SalamanderSucksatGames i will definitely give this a try, im pretty casual and play solo ive never even tried a fractal lol. I have been using heal as my m3 and then just all my abilities 1-10 on the mouse and then 12 on the moise as my dodge so ive been playing basically all with the mouse and just jump and movement and weapon swap with my left hand

I actually use an MMO mouse so I can tell you what I use. Mind you this is what I MYSELF find comfortable, not anything that could be construed as the objectively the best. I use a Logitech G600, which as 12 side buttons in a 3x4 grid, 2 extra buttons on top, and an additional "G-Shift" button that my ring finger rests on. Weaponskills 1-5 are mapped to the side buttons. Profession Skills are the same side buttons + shift. Heal skill is Q, utility skills are E R F, Elite skill is Shift+Q. Weapon Swap is Z Interact is C Dodge is on G-Shift Special Action Key is Shift+F Mounts are T, Middle Click, and the two top buttons, with and without shift. That's pretty much everything of note that's different from default.
