If you remove the air filter housing the front of the battery box unclips, then once the battery leads are disconnected and the clamp removed it is a simple task to slide the battery out towards the front of the car. No tilting or navigating around the wires. Also means you can work from the front and not have to hoist the battery over the wing from the side.
Honestly this video has been so extremely helpful to me. Battery went flat and jump starter kit wasn't quite getting it there. This video helped take the stress away and I'm not even savvy with cars. Battery currently charging in the kitchen.
Want to say thank you so much for this video. Changed mine this morning for the same Bosch S04, straight forward and no problems.Used shoe laces instead of plastic tie, saved the planet ;) Cheers, will look out for more of your great content 🙂👍
Absolute perfect video. All the hints and tips are ideal. Replaced the battery with no hitches and all secured by changing the bracket. Thank you so much 🙏
Thanks Simon. I must've tried pulling the old battery out for 10 mins and even got a ladder to stand higher for more leverage before looking this up and noticing the long bolt/clamp that had to be loosened. I guess it was time for a battery replacement since it must've been a really long time since I changed it last and had forgotten about that bolt.
Riley, I did the same thing trying to pull out me old battry. Pulled and tugged until I was huffing and puffing, spewed out a few choice verbs. Listened to a psychologist saying "if you can't do something, it's because you lack the inner strength. You lack power." I thought to me self, well let me tell you lady, you don't know who you're dealing with! I've got power! And I know how to use it too! I'll show you ! I'm no average bloke. I'm an above average bloke. I rented a small crane from CRAP (Consolidated Rent A Part) and out the came the battry. There, job well done, well done. Boom, right. The rest of what was left of the LR2 ended up in the junk advertisements.
Another great video guys.....I love how you leave in all the bumps in the road you come across. Makes it less frustrating when I hit a snag..... Very relatable your clips are. Thanks. 👍
You aint rubbish, pretty good actually. It's the passion and dedication to your business and customers that shines through. And i'm not even a customer. ;-)
Thanks for the reply Simon. Battery seems to be okay at present. I will see how much the Ctek charges are going for and probably buy one anyway. Stay safe
Cheers Simon and George, what a polite son you have. I was thinking of buy a Ctek charger as with not using the car the battery keeps going flat. Have tried turning everything off and will see how it goes, we have a 2017 Range Rover Evoque Se Tech Td4. Will let you know. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Hi Laurence.... the CTEK are awesome.. George is mostly polite...as with most teenagers he does have his moments ! To be fair to him he has been a great help during lock down as its tricky to video with other guys and keep a distance.
When I changed my battery I couldn’t get the clamp back on eventually I took it back out and found the new battery had a removable filler strip on the side , removed that and it fitted perfectly.
Hi Simon !! Use your video to change my battery. Thanks 😊 !! But one minor problem . Dissappear impulse window . Encounter with this problems ??? Continue with great jobs 👍👍 !!! See In another video , close window and still bottom 3 sec to " close window " and will reset and back impulse open/close windows. Yes ??
You may need to do a window reset - pull the button to bring the window up and heep holding the button for a few seconds - this should re-calibrate the window - try it and let me know
I have a Freelander 2 and my key is not working even though the battery pack and the recipient are fine. I already brought it to the Freelander workshop and payed hundreds of euros but the key still doesn’t work. By that I means I can’t close and open the car. They said it could be something with the body control unit, but they aren’t sure that’s why I‘m asking you for help. I really like your videos and think they are really informative that’s why I thought you could help me before I spend more money on nothing. Greetings from Germany!
Simon - When you removed the battery from the FL2, did you run any sort of "memory saver" or similar type device to retain your electronic settings (radio, engine/transmission, etc)? If so, what type (such as an OBD II port connected, or other), and if so, what type do you recommend? If not, why not? I plan to replace both the primary and aux batteries in my 2016 LR4 and would like to hear your recommendations. I realize you don't have an aux battery in your Disco 4, but I'm still interested in your comments. Thank you.
Good video. Wondering if I disconnect me battry if the car will require some codes before I can restart or use the radio, etc. 2013 LR2 US ver. Thanks!
Brilliant instructional video - thanks! Managed to change mine in around 30 minutes and everything works! Always enjoy your films - keep up the good work. BTW have you ever considered including an electric tail lift retrofit for the FL2? Have seen someone in Australia has fitted one and if there was one available here I’d definitely be in the market for this upgrade.
Hi Simon - well done for swapping over the battery. The power tailgate scares me a little.... it may decide to eat children and that would not be good !
What MY is the Freelander in the video? I was under the impression you had to tell the ECU that a new battery had been put in on the MY2013 onwards Freelanders?
Nice video! Do you know where I can get a replacement breathing tube? After this video I went to check my battery and realized somebody at some point has cut a piece of this tube and now it does not reach the little hole and plus the plug is missing. Thanks and cheers from Brazil
what about the HSE with the push button start it says you need to keep the battery connected so as have a constant current to the car or the ecu will need reprograming or is this bollocks to get you to take it to Land Rover ?
Really appreciate your videos guys, thank you! Once a new re-charged battery is put back in do we need to let it sit so the battery management system (BMS) recalibrates? I read somewhere it needs about 48 hours to do this unless you have the the Landrover bit of kit to do this.. I have an MY13 Freelander 2.
Thank you. I just needed this video. Also can you make one to show how to wire the new fog lights with leds always on? I have already bought them! But not sure about the wiring. Thanks
Replaced the battery on my 2011 FL2 and have managed to reset the clock in the radio w/o drama but the clock in the dash won't reset. Normally both clocks reset simultaneously. Over.
Hello. What should be the voltage with engine running? Between what ( min) and max ? I am asking because I am reading 14.11 V with engine running and I dont know if I should worry or not... thanks ! .. 1 month ago it was 14.45 V ....
One thing that should be emphasised is that the battery ,when removed, should not be tipped up as this will spill acid all over you and the car! Stay safe!
Boa tarde amigo! Sou do Brasil e tenho uma Freelander 2 3.2 HSE gasolina ano 2007. Ela esta descarregando a bateria mesmo estacionada e desligada. Ninguem descobre o problema. Pode me ajudar? Obrigado
Good afternoon! I am from Brazil and I have a 2007 Freelander 2 HSE gasoline. After standing still for 4 months, fixing the top of the engine. Now the gps blinks and the sound stops working and returns in seconds, when I start the engine and the bluetooth button works sometimes, not always. But the worst problem is that the battery is draining with my car stopped. I have already changed the battery 3 times and all this happens. Please help me. Thank you. e-mail colandoosete@gmail.com
