Thanks so much. I purchased a 2013 Equinox almost 2mo ago. This video helped me change my oil, although I had to bring in an outside source to help me get my oil filter out 😂😂😂😂
5 QUARTS,, 5 QUARTS,,,,,, not 5 gallon 😂 My 2015 Chevy Equinox actually took 5 1/2 quarts to bring the dipstick to the full mark after running the engine and letting it set & settle. You also need the same 3/8 drive tools used by the video mechanic. 1.1/4 socket, swivel & extension as 1/2 drive tools , or impact sockets are too fat to get in there to loosen/remove the filter. Some GM engineer needs flogged for the filter placement. They couldnt have place it a tighter spot to get at. My 2015 Equinox also has a engine sensor right over the oil filter housing making it very difficult to get out. This video was excellent. Made changing my oil easy with the proper 3/8 drive tools. . Thank you. 😁👍
@@bobbyd0656 this sits up high enough to where I need no ramps. I have gotten so good that I can do a lot of cars without jacking them up. Did a 2010 Civic in 10 minutes start to finish a couple of weeks ago.
I use a one and a quarter inch ratchet wrench but you have to cut off the open end. Works way better than a socket. You can also mark your oil filter cap with a paint marker before you take it off so it matches up with the arrow by where the filter cap is that way you dont have to use a torque wrench.
Thanks so much for making this useful video! I was having trouble finding my fiances oil filter (since im used to traditional filters) your video is awesome!
Thanks for sharing and for visiting my channel.. Watching and Supporting back to you. Hope your week has been going well.. Full View always.. I hadn't noticed how different the old filters have changed over the years..
mio caro carisimop molto caro amico sempre video di importanza e utilita complimenti per tuo video interesante e per la dolcissima tua spiegazione molto stupenda con mio cuore dalla nostra IALIA un caro saluto tuo giuseppe tuo caro amico
Very good video but my interest was in reading the dipstick end - never had a tip like this and I find it hard to determine what the level is. On older cars, it was pretty easy but this one is so different. Any close-ups on the tip after the oil change would be helpful.
@@JohnCRVI just looked up the link and it is on around “half price “ normally 200 bucks around 100 now, but the clincher is that the Amazon store showed me a “frequently returned item “ pop up when I viewed this AC Delco link. I would assume they are a big brand name, but I wonder what the deal there is..?
5 QUARTS OF OIL!!!! NOT 5 GALLONS This video will demonstrate How we Change the Oil and Filter on Chevrolet Equinox 2.4 Liter 2010 to 2017 & Reset Oil Life Indicator. 🛠 For TOOLS & MATERIAL USED IN THIS PROJECT see Description.
I forget what website we got the 16 ft-Lbs. The 25 n-m is the metric system (newton meters) which = to 18.4391 ft-lbs (US standard) We used 16 ft-Lbs to make sure we do not overtighten it... and no leaks, plus easy to take off the next time we do an oil change... I hope that helps.
I believe you meant to say 5 quarts not gallons of oil to refill. Where did you find a low profile socket, I had to cut off a 1 1/4 combination wrench to make a stubby to get to the filter cap.

I always flush the crankcase with about half a pint of kerosene to clean the gunk out of the bottom of the crankcase. I'm always surprised at the amount of gunk that runs out.

Thanks for the information. That's almost 127,000 miles. Very impressive. S, it only burned oil during the first 15,000 km and after that it just stopped burning oil? Did you do anything to it? and what year is your equinox? Thanks in advance for the info, this may help others out there.....
@@JohnCRV nothing was done to it. couldnt afford to change the oil so i just kept going. the stupid oil sensor in the car said it still had 23 percent oil life
The thing I learned about owning an Equinox is that NEVER go by the oil life indicator. That's just a fail safe reminder just incase you forget to do an oil change. Do an oil change ever 3000-4000kms especially if you own a 2010 model with over 150,000k kilometers. It just helps your engine live a lot longer.
@@JohnCRV of course just want others to know how important the oem filters made by Adelco valvoline put one of their own brands on my equinox and it wasn’t doing right. Engine wasn’t getting the proper lubrication needed I wish I had known prior… will always do my own oil from now on. Less than half the price, better oil and the proper filter! Thanks for the video made changing my oil easy as pie. I’ve done a lot of other work on my car but never changed my own oil due to a fear of getting under the vehicle but I overcame that even with a couple jack stands it’s still a little nerve racking probably don’t help I’ve heard so many stories of people being smashed by their own vehicles 🙃
@@BobSaget-ig6dt I hear you. Fear of being under a vehicle is hard to overcome for many people, especially if you are not use to it from a very young age. It’s definitely worth doing it yourself and I’m glad the video helped. 👍
@@JohnCRV mines a 2015. I blew my engine, but got lucky and found out there was some class action lawsuit because of bad oil consumption and they had to honor it. Holy shit did I get luck or what? 😂 I’m out of oil usually when it says it’s at 65 percent. The only good thing is I don’t have to drain the oil because well, THERE’S NEVER ANY IN IT!!! 😂
