That helped me so much to find the two plugs on my old rusted 2002 sentra! Thank you very much!

I know this is an old video But at the SER sentra forums we mix 1 shockproof and 2 redlines mt90. Ive used it for past 180k miles. No issues all. It shifts like butter. Still on stock clutch. Thank you for thr video very precise

Thanks a lot, I was looking for the plug socket sizes to make sure I have them before I do the job, and your vid was very helpful.

Actually the manual calls for normal conventional oil. It’s fine, just change your oil as specified or based on driving amt.

This isn't an advertisement for Redline oils, but I sure like them a lot. I notice the shifting is a lot smoother... with no clunk at all... I'm real impressed with this Redline fluid! :o)

I started jacking up the car level when changing fluid like that because they also make it to where you can't over fill it (usually - such as with the Nissan) - the fill hole is strategically placed where once the fluid starts to come out - it has the correct amount in it... (when level)... and if the plug was in the back instead of the front - sometimes you can't get it all in... but when the fill hole is in the front - you are good.

I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8L with manual trans. I bought it brand new. I have been using Amsoil GL4 SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Manual Transmission fluid since my first change at about 40K miles and have had no problems since (over a decade now so that's 2 changes and ready for my 3rd). I use the 75W-90 because amsoil doesn't make a 75W-85. My transmission takes 6.3 pints (or 3.15 quarts).

ditto. with amsoil (since the 113K mark) I still have the original transmission (no issues whatsoever) and am now at 240K miles.

Nice vid a length of hose on the end of a funnel works wonders also if you don't want to be lying under the car while refilling.

Next time you try to get it at Oreillys, reference this number 50504 with the line code RL. That will bring up 75w85 GL4 synthetic gear oil made by RedLine. Sold at my local Oreillys for $22.99 a qt. (I say sold, but it has to be ordered. Not regularly stocked.)

i have always used GL4 for my maunal Sentra. (asian model - same engine as the one in the states) i used to change pretty often castrol GL4 80w/90 ($8/btl) cause that was all i could find where i live. i know many workshops which used GL5 in the manual sentras here but have not heard of any disasters lol. then some time back i came across redline's GL4 75w/85. have not seen this spec of oil anywhere here where i live. so i decided to try. $28/quart btl. ouch!!!! but the difference was great. smoother changes i felt. butt feel? maybe.. cause i paid so much more lol...

I forgot to mention in the video that the manual shows two motor sizes - with a different capacity for the transmission for each. This is why I pointed out where to find out for sure which motor you have in the vehicle...

I just changed my cv axle from my 2001 maxima. And in the axle that goes into the transmission it threw out transmission fluid. Is it the same step to put fluid like this sentrra? Since their nissan.

Thanks for this... I think my last mechanic must've put the wrong oil in mine and my Sentra is now hard to shift... especially when it's cold. So, I think I'm going to swap out the oil. I do have a question, though. Would it be possible to pour the oil in with a funnel and tube from above? Or do I need to invest in a pump?
@Glock274Jimmy
@Glock274Jimmy 9 лет назад
***** Sometimes it sure is nice to 'do-it-yourself' just to know the right oil was used... although most mechanics would do a great job, there is always that guy that would rather save money and either put the wrong oil in... a cheaper oil... or not fill it all the way... not worth the risk to me. Yea I think it would be fine to fill it from the top with a hose attached to the bottle. I just thought it would be easier to be down closer by the fill hole and the pumps are pretty cheap at the parts stores. I think around 10 bucks. I've had mine for years and still works great... :) Personally I'd rather use the pump... :) Have fun!

Just since there isn't a dipstick for the manual tranny and the fill plug is in a position where the perfect fill point / capacity is factory set when the car is level - personally, I just like to make sure I have the exact amount of fluid in the car when refilling through the plug. Not that it would be that big of a deal though if someone did it just with the front lifted... I'm sure that would be close enough...

There is Sulfur in a lot of GL 5's. Sulfur is bad for your Transmission. It's ok to use in Diffs

I have been using 75w-90 in my 06 sentra. I thought that was what it took (as that is what my small nissan frontier truck (2001) is suppose to take. OOPS! probably not that big of deal. but I definetly make sure to only buy GL-4 gear oil. I had been using amsoil 75w-90 fully synthetic but switched over the penzoil 75w-90 fully synthetic to save a little money (as it was more than $5 cheaper per bottle). I may switch to mobile gear oil. from what I have read, of the major motor oil manufacturers, mobile makes the best synthetic gear oil. but I think the expensive brands (redline, amsoil, lucas oil) are clearly better than everything else.
