Today I show you how to change or replace a single pillar bathroom basin tap. I'll show the plumbing and fixing of the tap, step by step, DIY.
This basin tap is leaking and I'm going to show you how to change it. Perfect for DIY ers, apprentices and homeowners. I'll show you turning off the hot and cold water, removing the old tap's flexible pipe connectors and plumbing. Unclamping the tap from the basin and installing, clamping and plumbing in the hot and cold water supply to the new tap (or faucet) plus even adding two new inline valves. Replacement of basin taps shouldn't be hard...you can do it!

Could you help? I just replaced a tap with a new IKEA one and it's leaking around the bolt and olive joint on the hit water side. A steady trickle. I tried tightening it more but it still leaks. The other one tightened up nicely without any extra effort. I've had to shut the water off til I fix the leak.

If they don’t all fit together (some budget “diy” ones don’t), you can also use a socket, extension bar & ratchet driver, if you also have those on your toolbox …

You've made me learn something about plumbing today, from your video. I now know how to rotate the valves, to stop the flow of water. My son broke the head of the basin tap, water was flowing continuously, and I couldn't get a plumber immediately, so I went to RU-vid and found your video, which enabled me to stop the water flow. Thank you so much. Ibrahim.

Sir, you are lifesaver. My basin tap broke last night. I watched this video early this morning, ordered the piece on Amazon same day delivery, and just fixed it. Total cost: £27.99 for the new tap. Seeing how easily I fixed this thanks to you, I am now ordering the flushing system for my toilet, which has been leaking. Gonna fix that tomorrow after watching your video about that. Thanks so much for uploading this kind of stuff. It really makes a difference. Cheers.

Although there is an o ring on that base sometimes the seal is not 100%, What I do to avoid seepage through the hole is clean up the surface on the basin with some acetone or isopropyl alcohol, and then put a gasket of clear marine silicone. Proper seal.

Like the one you did the water went in through the 2 flexies but then it came back down again through the locking nut and back up through the tap. As I’m not a plumber it tuck me ages to work out why it was gushing water out. Not sure if that makes any seance the way I described it lol 😂…. see you on Thursday SEND
