It honestly sometimes is more beneficial when you show something going wrong than everything going right I think it gives the viewer a better understanding of what they’re putting at risk and what to avoid! Great tutorial btw I’ve been wanting to eye swap my dolls
when you pluck out the heads from the neck peg i have a little tip i find useful! i usually just push their head downwards and let the hole expand a little before removing it from the neck peg, it really works most of the time so you might find this helpful!
I bought a Sunny head from aliexpress and I'm trying to put Delilah's eyes in. No matter how soft her head is, I cannot insert it in her eyesocket. The only result I got is that I scratched all the bottom eye paint! This is a nightmare, I envy your skills XD
I found that it’s not necessary to remove the head. I put the entire doll in a large ziplock back, dunked her head in a boiling pot and the was able to pop the eyes right out.
Oh my gosh, the original video you made on how to eye swap/fix wonky rainbow high eyes was the first video of yours that I ever watched and I’ve been a constant watcher of your videos ever since!
Thanks for the video! It was easier to understand than the ones I watched previously and it gave me some good tips on how to fix my first two eye swaps that ended up womky and one losing her lashes (I swapped cheer Sunny and cheer Violet’s eyes with Violet ending up with wonky eyes and lost lashes). I just hope to fix them at some point and master eye swapping in the future. As for Holly and Laurel, they look cuter with bangs and heterochromia would have been a cool idea, though I still don’t care for their outfits.
omg a tinsel removal video would be a GODSEND i spent so long plucking margots tinsel out individually, if theres an easier method you would be offically saving my hands from cramping as badly as they did that day.
I'm living for Miss Brooke's tutorials 🖤 it's very helpful for us collectors if we want to alter our dolls. I really wanna see a tutorial on how to fix RH loose joints on the knees tho haha..since that usually the problems that I've face with my RH dolls
Great tutorial👏! Thanks so much for sharing they look so different with the eye swaps 😍 I've done eye swaps on American Girl dolls & it's very hard to do so getting the heads very soft is probably the best thing to do for sure 👍 now I'm off to finish eye swapping an AG doll that's only been waiting years for me to finish her eyes, poor thing 😂
this video came up when i was looking for a tutorial on how to swap rainbow high eyes and you have such a fun energy in addition to being super helpful. love it!
I did some eyes swap like 3 months ago and I hurt the side of my thumb by doing a lot of force It still hurts : ( so be careful when doing the eye swap.
This video was really helpful! I just eye swapped 6 dolls and it took me 4.5 hours but so worth it! I think for tips from my experience I would put the heads in a ziplock bag and put in boiling water for 8-10 minutes and then try and put the eyes in. For some dolls I swapped I think the plastic was slightly thicker because I did Tessa Park and I had to boil her head so many times to get it squishy enough. I hope I can get better at it so I can do more customs 😅
When the customizable dolls come out with the warm and cool colored doll, do you think they will give them a special sculpt that lets kids change the eyes more easily. I feel like that would happen for a kids toy, and probs make the face mold look odd
I’m still nervous to try even though you did a great tutorial! And we are in a severe heatwave here in California I wish we had rain I’m super jealous!
i got a marias head from aliexpress and some purple eyes from there too and ive been tryin for like an hour or more and nothin, cant even fit one. i boiled water in the microwave like 3 times now. and ive tried to put the eyes but i can only fit one corner but not push the rest in.. and the head goes back to not bein as squishy so fast so ive to keep puttin her in the boiling water... update got one of the eyes stuck inside the head --. almost got another stuck inside too. i cant get the eye out, i cut the back of her head to try to get the eye out and cant either. i keep havin to boil water and keep havin to dip the head in to make it squishy . update i was able to remove the eye from inside the head but i had to cut the back of the head even more (if i manage to put the eyes correctly on the sockets then ill ig hot glue the openings in the back. ilve to try puttin the eyes tomorrow night again
I'm a grown 34 year old guy with blisters on his thumbs and a pulled arm muscle. I genuinely can't understand how you do it so easily lol. At this point my cheryl is gonna stay a cyclops and I'm gonna just have to accept everyones natural eye colors.
@@xCanadensis I've tried a strong high heat hairdryer, and I've tried boiling water. It's as squishy as it can possibly be ): I manage to get half the eye in each time and then it's always stuck on the corner. It's not the little pegs getting caught or anything, i just don't have the strength to push the last corner in? Even when its super super squishy. I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure out what.
Flattening the head when the eye is in that position and wiggling around can help. Unfortunately this isn’t easy but trust me it’s possible. When they give me hell I walk away for a while and when I return it’s like magic. Also if you go inner corner in first you can pull the hair closest to the eyeliner wing to “stretch” the vinyl a bit more
i reaaaaly want to do this to my Zooey Electra but i cbf redoing her hair xD Love how indepth this was- i feel confident in doing it now because ive just watched you do it for half an hour Do you think using a handheld garment steamer would work the same way to loosen the heads?
“I think just as an experiment, I’m gonna try Hallie’s eyes in Maya’s head, then I’m gonna try Hallie’s eyes in Sheryl’s head…” imagine hearing this with no context😂
I have a huge left-right-problem (in general, not only with doll eyes) soooo... the eye that has the "r" on the back side is the right eye from the dolls perspective, not from mine... yes?
Frustrated... I guess I thought I could handle this half remembering a tutorial lol I needed the head 10 times squishier than I thought. Now I'm going to have to make the best of the semi-ruined eyelashes...Should I just be lucky no paint came off yet?
I haven’t ever had paint come off. I had eyelashes get messed up once because of not having the head heated up enough to go smoothly though. Using false eyelashes for people trimmed to your doll’s size fixes it!
Somewhat similar. But that video wasn’t great so I thought making an update would be a good idea- I’m doing a tutorial series on RH customization and restyling and this was the first episode
All custom projects are at the risk of the customizer 😅 I’ve never had one be damaged except the eyelashes came out once. What ended up ruining them? The hair, eyes, skin and paint can all withstand very high temperatures so if done with boiling water I’m not sure what could have happened?
Dry heat is much more dangerous as it can very easily go too far and melt the plastic (I do it on purpose for articulation mods). I will never never never never never recommend something that can go that wrong that easily
@@xCanadensis I could see that happening with a embossing gun or a heat gun but a regular hair dryer that people use for their hair? Huh, I wouldn't have expected that it could get hot enough to burn plastic especially since our scalps are a lot more sensitive.
