This is how an average bloke can change the springs in the rear of an Audi A6 without requiring Audi's special spring compressor tool. You can save yourself a lot of money by doing your own car maintenance.
I do the same for Vito springs (those are extremely tall springs, normal compressors don't have a hope of compressing them enough. I compress, ratchet strap them, then re-compress, then fit. Otherwise, you're struggling.
Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback. No, is the answer to your question, I wouldn't risk it. From memory there are locator features between the rubber and the plastic and between the plastic and the chassis which make sure everything stays in place. The consequences of your spring coming out of place are far greater than the cost (& delay) of getting a new part.
