This video is better than some others out there, telling you only the necessary screws and taps to undo and why, with ample time to see how each piece look like.
This is a great video! Could you please do a video tutorial on how to change the bulb for the gear shift for this acura? The P R N D and so on does not illuminate and I need to replace the blown bulb. However, I can't seen to find where that bulb is and not really sure how to take it out. Thanks.
Just finished installing a replacement navigation screen using the video as a guide. Excellent step by step directions. Couldn't have done it without the help. Thanks so much!
Thanks for posting this! You saved me a LOT of time and aggravation. I would have had to figure this all out myself but instead I just need to follow your direction. So much better!
Hi there, and thanks for the kind word. You don't have to pull radio out to get the code. Just make sure you are holding down 1 and 6 and then turning the radio on to see the two sets of numbers(radio serial#). Do not release the 1 and 6 until the two sets of codes come up. Call Acura dealer with the serial# and they should provide the code. If code fails, you have to remove antenna from back of radio before typing code.(these cars have radio antenna issues sometimes)
Hey great video y'all, nicely done. Question for you: I'm considering buying a 2003 MDX but the one I'd like does not have factory navigation. It has that display screen that basically shows your fan speed, stereo info, etc. Is there a way to replace that with a factory N
@ahparts HEY thanks for the reply. I got my radio code last week. I removed the Wooden grain from the passenger side and the Acura dealer had told me there should be a sticker on the right side of the radio which should have the serial # on it. so when i removed the wooden grain . the code was right on the side of the radio. I didnt even have to remove the whole radio :D . i gave the dealer the serial number and he gave me the code and now music pumps through my Bose system. Thanks
thank u very much for this video u help me a lot n save lots of money o remove my stereo watchin ur video n unplung the antenn n nothing so I call the dealer n they say I have to send it to the factory n it well cost me around 500 dllrs so other guy from acura tell me unplung the antenna n put ur code n it should work n it did yess I got my back :-) !!!!
Excellent tutorial. I DC my Acura 01 TL and now need the radio code. Can't seem to find it anywhere so I'll have to pry my way to access the label code. I didn't realized it would be this complex. Question about the release shifter part. When putting things back in order, how do I get it back into park? Thanks!
Hi there, Yes, there are aftermarket radios you can buy with a wiring setup. I think you might also need to get another radio trim to fit the aftermarket one. I've seen it on some cars before.
Hi have to replace my nav screen due to inside like foil?Have replacement unit, fantastic video !on taking dash apart!! do I have to program new unit once installed? Can I use my old code for my car?thanks
I have an after market on my 99 TL. There is a trim kit to make it look stock and a small storage space under the radio since most aftermarket radios are half the height of the factory unit.
This is so helpful but its def a lot of work for me lol So i'll let someone else do this. Would you happen to know if the plug for my heated seats are shorten? They just stop working all of a sudden
Adding navigation is very possible. However, it takes a ton of parts and ton of time to do it. It's usually recommended to just add an aftermarket portable navigation. Not to mention the updated maps on the portable navigation which are way easier to obtain.
i was wondering if i would have to disconnect the car battery before doing this procedure? and also do I need to wire my aftermarket car stereo (radio) ?
hi there first of all nice video, i have a honda saber 3.2 vtech 1998 model. the navigation system in Japanese.any option i can chang e to english and do you know if there any navigation disk for new zealand if i can buy? cheers

@ahparts hey i have a 2000 acura tl , i need the code for my radio since it got locked and the dealer told me i have to remove the radio to get the serial # which is listed at the back of the radio. I was wondering do i have to go through all of the process in the beginning just to remove the radio ? or can i just remove the wooden grain and remove the 2 side plastic parts which will expose the screws on the side of the radio # pls help me and let me know. mch appricted
How do I connect my factory bose subwoofer to a after market stereo on my 2003 Acura TL base no navigation .? Please make a video on that bro it would really help
@ahparts Hey thanks for the reply , but i have already tried that procedure and it does not work, It keeps saying CH 1 . shortly after i called ACURA dealer ship and they told me , that procedure does not work on the 2000 ACURA TL model as it only works on 2001 ACURA TLs and the above make. hope to hear back from you soon. Thanks
Hi there, If you are looking for your part number there should be a serial# sticker on the back or top of your radio/cd player. However, if you want to get the code for your radio, just hold down 1 & 6 and turn the radio on. It should display 2 sets of numbers. Write those numbers down and call your dealership for the code. -ah
@houselover05 Hi there, The procedure is pretty much the same thing. If you are trying to FIX the CD changer, sometimes they can be opened up and easily fixed due to a CD jam. Most of the time, however, they would need replacement. Those CD players are infamous for going out. Hope that helps...
Can you guys make a video on how to remove the am/fm antenna connected to the radio?? When I disconnect my battery I have to input the code to reset the radio which I've done before w/ success. Only this time the radio is not accepting the code from the dealer & I must now input the code while the antenna is removed to get the radio to reset. Thank you very much for your videos.
Hi there, the antenna just unplugs from the back of the radio. Just follow this video on how to remove the radio and then remove the antenna from the back. Then re-enter the code.
Does anyone know if the 99 and 00+ screens are interchangeable? I know thet went from hard disk to DVD in those years but did the actual screens change?
I know this may sound like a stupid question, but when you take out the radio, the climate controls come out with it, so when you put a new radio in, how do you get the climate controls to go back in with a new radio?
@ogunlade82 @ahparts Hi there, Our TL guy says the non-nav radio doesn't work with in the car with nav, or vice versa. To make it work, you would probably need a whole dash harness and other stuff. It wouldn't be worth the change to be honest. Best luck!
i have an 03 acura mdx and my navigation screen doesn't work it only shows please check your disc message and i cant seem to get my rear view screen to power not sure if its aftermarket screen but i need some help
Can someone show how to do/connect the wiring for the navigation system? I have a 03 cl and it didn't come with the navigation system I wanted to swap my dash for one. Also, will it be an easy swap?
AH Parts Dismantlers Honda Acura I did I was suppose to ask a different question (how to wire a store bought radio?) but it came out like BLAH I found it though thanks this video is great! Subscribed :)!
does the screen have a fuse i dont know what happen whit my screen but is off when i touch it i heard the ac turn on and the beep sound but no display so my screen is mess up ??
@yourareveryfunny Hi there, You don't have to remove anything, actually. Before starting the radio, hold down the numbers 1 and 6 and it should tell you the serial code. Keep it held down until you see two sets of 4 numbers. ahparts
@yourareveryfunny Ah that's unfortunate. Well, I guess you will have to do a removal. I'm not exactly sure if you can take a shortcut.... Try it and see what happens if you start by just removing side panels?
RedMan1026177 Just pulled radio from a CL-S to replace a TL radio and it was exactly the same, though there's an extra screw under the dash on the driver side panel that needs to be removed for the panel to come out. This tutorial is an excellent step-by-step guide. Great job.
Its located behind a tab that is located between the seat heater controls. Just use a flat head screw driver and pull that tab out and you will see the place it plugs into.
