How To Change Spark Plugs On A 103 Twin Cam

the simplicity of swapping plugs is one reason i prefer twin cam over the newer M8's that require 4 plugs and removing the fuel tank 👍

With new plugs, I put them upside down in the socket and tighten the top tips with pliers, I have found them loose right out of the box. Bad connection right there. At least check them! Used plugs, if they are burning good, I often clean the bottom with my wire wheel on the bench grinder till they look like new. Anti seize, check gap, dielectric grease, torque, and ride. I replace them when they start wearing down, or if they don't burn right. Been doing this for many years. Today's ignitions, fuel systems, wires and plugs are far better than those of several years ago. Also, a lot has to do with how you ride!

What is the Champion or NGK equivalent for a Harley brand plug for a 103 twin cam? Cant seem to find it on line and heading to the auto parts store to pick up a couple plugs to change when I do my oil change. GOOD video; probably would not have done the anti-seize or dielectric had I not watched it.

what plugs did you use

so i bought a used 2013 dyna bob. 3k miles. had a full service after i bought it but i noticed it pops and crackles a decent amount. think it could be a plug and wire issue? should i go ahead and change both. not sure why dealer didnt recommened a change

I always called them spark plug wires. This is the first time I heard them called cables.

Anti Seize...dang .you put a lot on those plugs..When I worked with a race team on off road car..We would never put antiseize on plugs..Somehow someway antiseize finds a way to get in to the gap and foul the plugs..So..perhaps a touch of antiseize..But 🤔🤔

I’ve been dealing with spark plugs for a while now. I never knew about gapping until my bike just misfired & it’s rhythm has been off. I’m curious about you saying “if you drop them. Their done” Can someone tell me why? Thanks for the vid btw! 😁🤘🏻

can you tell me the brand of anti-seize you use?

Usually if I am running more mods when more fuel is needed, yes better plugs that run hotter or have more spark to help burn things. Stock it isn't needed in most cases.

Changed both plug's and wires on my 103 twin cam, now she runs really rough. Sputtering and back firing. Any suggestions what may be happening? She ran amazing prior btw. Thank you in advance

I alway by the harley ones and never ever start them with a wrench or hot haha

Change mine out on my CVO Breakout the other day. They screeched and screamed on the way out. Dealer must not have put anti seize on the threads. Grrr.

No way I'd use a torque wrench on plugs. I turn 90 degrees after finger tight.

Do NOT use anti seize......read on the box, never use anti seize, torque dry.

HOW ABOUT THE OTHER TWO???
