Did a tune up on my 2018 Elantra that was fun lol. Coil #3 was replaced under warranty long while ago but still bucks once in a blue moon. So I bought 3 coils with updated shafts and 4 new spark plugs at the dealer and did them myself. Man 48k of severe stop and go's really did a number on my old plugs. She purrs now.
Nice! Good to know this is an easy job. My old 2005 ford five hundred was a multi headache process to get to the back 3 coils. I'm about to work on my wife's elantra as soon as the coils arrive. Thanks

Do I need any lubricant to put on the spark plugs??? How do I replace the ignition coil as well? If I replace one ignition coil, do I need to replace them all?
The ignition coils do not need to renew be replaced when you're changing the spark plugs correct? I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra I know I'm due for a tune-up but I'm out of warranty and everything is going to be out of pocket but I wanted to be saving more money I'm having poor acceleration mine engines knocking a little bit I just had the oil changed I drive everyday so I put miles on her so you think if I just changed the spark plugs I'll have better acceleration and the knocking will go away??
I would change spark plugs first and see if it helps if it does the same then would look into coils. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
Hey man great video! Do you the elantra or just doing work on it? Mines at 70k miles and the engine is lagging a bit sporadiclly sometimes for a split second up to a few. Dont know if its the plugs or a dirty fuel filter. On top if that is the fuel filter assembly under the back seat? Thanks a ton i see you reply to comments!
would have it read at parts store if it is a missing cylinder, should pop up as misfire, also would run gas treatment and fuel injection cleaner thru car. Goodluck Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos

Replaced the spark plug closest to the belts on the engine...alternator side...cylinder 1 I believe (had a P0301 code for misfire on cylinder 1)....just wanted to make sure I did the first one right and now car won't start. Any ideas? I put the original spark plug back in and it still won't start when it was starting before
The original was still gapped right...I checked it before reinstalling.....will have it towed tomorrow to my mechanic but I don't understand how easy this job is just to have it not work......I've done hard repairs before...this was supposed to be easy
Thanks for watching depending on your year car, you may have a bad wire or coil on that cylinder, your coil or wire may have been going bad and when you pulled it, it went all the way out. Good luck please subscribe and share if haven't already and check out my other helpful videos.
Hi!! Thanks for this info. I need to change the spark plug on cylinder 1. Which one is that? And when I try and take the ignition coil the top comes off but not the whole coil how do I fix that?
Thanks for watching not sure which is best I normally get Bosch,, but I would check with AutoZone and get there recommendation. Please Subscribe and share if haven't already and check out my other helpful videos.
Bosch not recommended for Hyundai and Asian cars like Hyundai come with Denso spark plugs made in Korea for oem use and now they are using a different brand name call yura on spark for Hyundai elantras,Don’t use Bosch on a Asian or Japanese cars is not the same efficiency,I have experienced that before on Honda Civic 2005 em2 coupe 1.7 single cam vtec i have try autolite spark plugs and Bosh,my recommendation for both of you NGK or denso 💥
If you ever aren't sure of this in the future. Swap the coil to a different plug. Move the coild from 4 to 3 and 3 to 4. Clear your codes, Then see if the check engine code comes back to the plug number you moved the coil to. Thats how I generally rule them out. Helps to mark the suspected bad one with a paint marker to keep from mixing up. If moving the coil doesn't change the check engine light to a different cylinder then the coil is not the issue. consider possible fuel injector, valve issue, or wiring.
Hi thanks for watching, Don t have a video for 2017 Electra but it's pretty much the same process as the other newer car brake change video i have up. Please Subscribe and share if haven't already and check out my other helpful videos.
Plugs should be pre gapped, when u buy them, but check with your parts store to be sure.please subscribe like and share and check our my other helpfull videos.
Hi should I change the wires too or can you even change them on a 2017 because I can’t seem to find the SparkPlug wires anywhere except the dealership for $1100, I fear my car needs them because I did the sparkplugs at 80,000km(not the coils or wires) and car is starting to jerk immensely now with rpm’s all over the place at 100,000kms. Can someone give me a link to the “wires” so I can order some, thanks!
They are coil packs and I bet that's what's happening to your car. At around 100,000 miles cylinder 1 started misfiring in my elantra without any check engine light. I replaced the coil pack on top of cylinder 1 and it fixed it completely. The cheapest ones are like $95 but you only need to replace the one that isn't working. The dealership is trying to sell you 4 of the most expensive ones. I know my reply is 4 months late so I hope you ended up figuring it out!

My engine shutters at low RPMs and at stop lights. Not every time, and also sometimes at highway speeds between 2 and 3,000 RPM Because it's not consistent and shudders call my is it possible there's another issue?
My Elantra 2016 it has some shaking now not big but i can feel it it has 50k miles on it never changed anything except oil ofcourse, is the shaking because of sparkplugs
Thanks for watching it could be, also you could need a front wheel alinement or have a bad tire all of these can cause shaking if your feeling it while your driving. Please Subscribe and share if haven't already and check out my other helpful videos.
If it is shaking at idle then yes. Because when spark plugs wear down they lose their spark. Eventually, you end up with a dead cylinder. *note as bad as it sounds. That knly means the cylinder is not firing enough for the detonation to occur in the cylinder meaning less power. But this would also in turn cause a build up full.*extra note. But with one clinder not firing amd the others are it causes an inbalance. Because the engine is perfectly balanced for min. Vibration because the engine is turning at idle 500-900 rpms. And in kme rotation it goes through a four stroke cycle so you only imagine just at idle how many rotations the engine does with an imbalance because of a dead or weak cylinder. Hope that helps but a tune up is a always a good start. And it is needed and would not hurt to do so anyways. P.s a license Technician. Good luck man
