Best video on the subject I’ve found online! The only potential improvement would be subtitles for those who don’t speak Canadian!

Thanks Trevor, saw another video that suggested a much higher level of difficulty in the removal process. Followed your approach, twenty minutes start to finish. Thanks

Just did this on my late 2017 S75D. Took me 30 minutes. Was struggeling a little with biggest panel. Bottom clip on the left side. All the rest is plugn play, just like this video. Thanks 👍😉

Well done! I followed the video and easily did it! As a tool to snap the panels off you can use a bicycle plastic tool for removing the clincher tires. Don’t start this if you don’t have a t20 screwdriver adapter!

Awesome - thanks! Just successfully replaced the filter on my late 2016 Model S. Mission was a success 🙂. This filter is rectangular and a little smaller, but it's in the same place. A little head scratching was involved to figure out which way up it should go - I presume airflow is upwards (difficult to see the duct work). Seems to work fine anyway 🤷‍♀️

Thank you very much for uploading this video. Im planning on doing the brake fluid flush, would you happen to know if the Model X uses dot 3 or dot 4 brake fluid? Thanks!

Dot3

That is strange. I have used dot 4 since the 90's on all my cars. DOT 3 is usually only for vintage cars. Any reason why the recommendation is DOT 3?

Great video, thank you! I was able to get the job done in about 20-30 minutes, BUT now the glovebox doesn't respond to the physical button on our 2016 model x. Any suggestions? about to take everything apart again and go back in to make sure it's connected, but any other solutions/troubleshooting advice would be great! Thanks in advance

Just opened her back up and isolated the problem to a non functioning solenoid. Not sure if I’m using that word correctly but when I press the button to open the glovebox I do not hear the click. The glovebox light works. When I set the glovebox pin, and push the button to open the glovebox the screen prompts me for the pin but does not activate the solenoid to push the latch open. Any suggestions before going to Tesla service? Thanks again in advance

It is always good to write the Model Year in the title or mention it, mine is a 2018 Model S and it does not have the cabin filter in there. Am I mistaken ?

I thought the cabin filter n the Model S was accessed through the front, upper right side where you see the plastic "mesh" by the windshield. You remove the plastic panel and it is right there visible. This is for a RWD model. Maybe the Dual Motor is accessed inside as the video shows?
@12x2richter

Nope, for my 2015 75D it's under the hood as well. I'm guessing this was a post-facelift thing.

While I understand that in many cars the air filter isn’t in the easiest access spot, often behind the glovebox, you shouldn’t have to remove HALF of HALF of the entire dash just to simply replace something as simply as an air filter. That’s a lot of lot of parts that might BREAK during removal or reinstall every 1 to 1.5 years and a lot for wasted time. Simply a bad design and something that wasn’t thought though and implemented as almost as an afterthought, and I like Tesla while currently owning two (different) models.
@greglindstrom1705
@greglindstrom1705 5 лет назад
in normal cars the dash has bolts holding it in. in a tesla its like 95% clips. which u can buy for $.50 at ur local service center.

The earlier Model S's, it's under a panel in the front, no tools necessary and changes in about a minute. Not sure why they changed that.

Pulled the larger trim panel off as you did and half of the plastic tabs holding the clips snapped off.

Yes that happens sometimes. Good thing they’re cheap to buy. Tesla service might even give you a handful if you ask them

Great video. What a dumb place to put an air filter. Im not sure I'll do this one myself :o

Great video. Elon needs to engineer a minimally invasive way to replace the filter. Tearing apart three panels, then screws, then you lost me. I hope Tesla does this via it's service because I am not this handy.
@12x2richter
@12x2richter Год назад
@@georgeazadian8063 On my 2015 Model S 75D, it's under a panel in the "frunk" area. No tools needed, and takes about a minute to replace. I don't know if this is a later model, or a special option?

This cabin air filter is not for a 2022 Model S and is way easier to install than what's shown..

I would say this should not have been so difficult to change the air cabin filter. Not for the average consumer to change.
