So glad I own a 2013... they made the Teryx less user friendly in the following years...my 2013 also has the fresh air outlet for the belt in the dash..you didn't mention blowing all the old belt dust and rubber out of the housing, cleaning the clutch halves is also recommended..
Thank you! I am getting ready to do this on a used one I got and have no idea how old the belt is. Going to install a new one and use the old one as a spare.
The 2011 is similar but a much bigger pain in the butt and a lot more has to be removed to even get to the clutch cover but this helped to get us in the right direction.
Mainly you'll be looking for any uneven wear, flat spots, or cracks in the belt. We have a good video showing the inspection process on a Polaris CVT clutch but it will still apply for your machine. You can check out that video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LcP6MzcwjRk.html
I have an older teryx. Don’t know what year but I replaced this belt and I’m getting a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust. Can you help me with solutions?
my friend has the teryx 800 2015 and the stator cable it attaches to got burnt. dont know what part number it is to replace,. cant find it online. can you help guide me maybe to a correct part number ?
You will want to check the OEM parts finder. It looks like the stator and wiring is one piece and not available separately. The part number for the stator is 21003-0166, but you will want to confirm this is correct for your machine. Kawasaki OEM Parts Finder: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-parts/Kawasaki
What was Kawasaki thinking how they built this thing? If I'd know then what I know now, I'd never go anywhere near on of these things again...pain in the ass to work on
I have a teryx 750. The engine was just rebuilt and a new drive belt(that I got from a local Kawasaki dealer) was installed. I fired it up for the first time the other day after getting it back. In neutral everything sounds great but in low, high, and reverse there’s a fairly loud whining sound coming from the drive belt. I didn’t gas it any because I was worried it would damage something. But by just letting my foot off the brake the utv does start to move like it normally would and doesn’t jerk or anything like that. Any ideas about what the issue could be? Maybe the clutches aren’t aligned correctly?
Sounds like the squeaking could possibly be from the belt not having enough deflection. Your machine should have some specs on recommend belt deflection and your driven pulley will have some shims that you could adjust if its out of spec. Hope that helps a little bit!
