Just wanted to say thank you for the informative video. Last night I was going live on fb doing some lapidary and smithing. While smith you know you shut the little torch down at the knobs torch end to shut off flame in between stages of soldering. Lines(o2 specific) stay pressurised. Well I wasnt using the torch for like an hour sitting in front just talking live feed and i look down under my bench. My main tank dial had lost 25% or more of its capacity. Before watching this video I said to my pops. It's like this rubber/synthetic hose inside the mesh is "brittle" and almost crumbly. I went to bed frustrated because well no fire. Woke up and contacting local welding stores for a quick fix while I wait for a line replace kit. I really had no idea how the lines truly worked. Thank you. This was the perfect video to wake up to and have a direction of what to do. I've silversmithed on and off 18 years. Have always just been supplied. Torches or given them secondhand. Just wanted to take a few moments to thank you for the clarity on my disaster lol. I saw 18 comments and figured I'd write a small story. Also a big thanks to Rio Grande for supporting me with equipment and silver supplies for years. Since high school even. I'm gonna be 39 on friday! Always best customer service when ordering anything I need. Will be ordering a line replace ment kit for mine today from Rio! Your video relieved a big headache. Never had to deal with torch lines lol....

Excellent video, John, as yours always are. I found this after scratching my head over the instructions on the manufacturer's website. Question: I have leaks at both ends of one of the hoses; do you think it makes sense just to cut a little of each end and reinstall the hose? Or should I plan on buying a replacement hose(s)? thanks for all of your help, Ken I answered my own question- no matter how far I cut back the hoses, the plastic was brittle and split when attaching to the connections. Time for new hoses!

Now i know thank you😁! One question,my propane knob on the torch doesnt close easily,i have to tighten it too much or it leaks...any suggestion?

What are the hoses made of? Polyurethane? Nylon? Also what’s the diameter of the hoses?

Is it a similar process to change the threaded end? Or do you sell a Little Torch hose kit that fits onto non-Imperial threading?

Hi there - The fittings are attached the same way on barbed fittings using the ferrule. Let us know if you have any other questions!

I'm having a terrible time!! The fabric is fraying like crazy on the ends of the hose, I thought I was being careful but I drove one ferrell all the way up onto the handle tube. I can't get the ferrell's on without pushing the fabric back, what a mess!

@@RioGrande1944 I finally got it all together. The fabric kept fraying like crazy so I put a little clear fingernail polish on the ends. Then I actually used a tiny drop of oil to get the new tubing on and finally a pair of pliers to get it all the way up where it belonged.

@@brigidko1945 try what I did. Put fingernail polish on the fraying ends and a fraction of a dtop of household oil to slide it on.

Thanks so much! Is this as easy as it looks? I was so intimidated about this, yet didn't want to take it to my gas supplier as they don't think women should be using torches and always give me "attitude"!

Update! I decided to try to water dunking test, just to be sure. My hose kind of exploded in a "hail" of bubbles! A dangerous torch, and I never knew. Thank you!

add a little dish soap to the water when checking for leaks. The soapy water will bubble at any leaks.
@RioGrande1944
@RioGrande1944 5 лет назад
Hi Wayne, This is a great point. Checking for leaks is important; however, we recommend avoiding any solutions (soaps) that contain combustible ingredients, such as petroleum. For this reason, we suggest a product such as Safe-D-Tect Leak Detector Fluid. Here's a link to that product, if you're interested in checking it out: www.riogrande.com/product/safe-d-tect-leak-detector-fluid/500238 - Thanks so much for watching!

if there is someone who is not able to open it, you will need to cut the friction in the hose first

😂😂😂😂You started of with the first thing you wanna do is?? It goes on through out the process and then at the end of the video you come up again with the first thing you wanna do is to finish the video

Can we talk about how horrible this whole process is? the chamfers - can't determine which is the thin side and which is the thicker side. The difference is SO miniscule. Why can't they mark it somehow? The fabric that covers the hoses....It unravels if you look at it the wrong way. There's no way in this video that these rubber hoses weren't stretched before shooting...those hoses are BRUTAL to put on the torch, impossible to get them where they're supposed to go. Oh, and just when you thought you were done, you realize you forgot the handle. Why can't Smith Little make a handle that goes on after? I hate this whole process and
