Before Starting, I normally open the Oil Cap on the Engine (valve cover) to have All the Oil come out... and it drains much faster...

The newer vehicles are so much different, and the oil change intervals have changed so much. I see that this vehicle requires that the oil be changed at 3000 miles, where many say you can run it longer than that.

Just bought a 2013 Santa Fe Sport with the 2.4L, 4cyl...115K miles on it, but the engine was replaced by Hyundai and the motor had 40 miles on it when I bought it...the dealership did the install and obviously changed the oil too...but the oil level is over filled...I'm doing my first oil change later today, and I'm switching from 5W-20, to 5W-30 full synthetic...the manual says 5W-30 is within spec for this engine...QUESTION; what is the issue with over-filling the oil level? Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great video!

I have a 2012 Santa Fe with the 2.4. It has 180k miles ZERO ISSUES EVER with drive train. I have always used 1/2 5w20 and 1/2 5w30. The extra protection of the 30 weight is worth losing 1/10 of a MPG. We have owned the 2011 since New only parts to ever go were front struts. I also replaced the tie rods at that time as well but they were fine. That’s It. They are incredibly reliable Vehicles

Thanks Jim...just bought a used 2013 Santa Fe Sport, I've always done oil changes myself ( traded the 2003 Suburban)...I'd like to use full synthetic now in the Santa Fe with an extended range filter...in the Suburban I'd go 7500 miles between changes, and it was running like a top when I traded it, even after 265,000 miles...how about running 5?/30 full synthetic in this motor for 7500 miles intervals? Thanks again, great video sir.

Backlineguy do you know the oil filter size 2013
@backlineguy
@backlineguy 4 года назад
@@africaunite4489 I use the Fram XG9688 on the 2.4l 4cyl...for full synthetic and a range of 20k miles, although I've never run one that far, usually 7500 miles or less, and I have had excellent results.
@tomkruze2749

@@backlineguy if their rated for 20k miles their probably good for double that. Not that I would chance my engine to save $10. Just saying...

I own a 2015 Santa Fe Limited Sport 2.0L Turbo. I change my engine oil every 5000km with only full synthetic oil. I find that the oil level gets lower as I drive the vehicle. At about 2000km, the level goes from full to low. any idea why this occurs? is it normal for a turbo engine? or do you think I have a problem with my vehicle?
@roflcopter9649
@roflcopter9649 3 года назад
Turbo sucks up oil simple as that also how “crazy” you drive it will effect that too
@surensath986
@surensath986 3 года назад
@@roflcopter9649 yes. That's right. Any suggestions on what I can do to the vehicle to reduce the consumption of oil? Where is the oil loss gone?
@Thatoneguy1452
@Thatoneguy1452 3 года назад
You need to take your vehicle to hyundai to do an oil consumption test. If it uses so much they will make it right for you depending on your miles. Do not put it off. They just replaced our engine for the same reason.
@CODEX919
@CODEX919 Год назад
@@surensath986 when you get to your destination don't turn your engine immediately, wait about 45 seconds. This allows the oil to cool down. If you turn it right away it'll be hot
