I have done a few hundred oil changes in my time, but after trying to squeeze under this rig for about ten minutes and not finding anything, decided to youtube it. Didn't expect to find it at the top. Great video, well explained, good presentation.....will be a piece of cake now. What oil did you replace with. I think Hyundai holds hands with quaker state if I'm not mistaken. Thank you very much for your instruction!!

You are welcome boys. I use 5W30 Pennzoil. This '13 model does not require synthetic engine oil but you can if you prefer to. Take care and thanks for your comment.

dumb question, do you change filter first or drain oil first? Does anyone else have issue with oil consumption by the engine. I have read GDM motors eat oil.
@ozzstars_cars

It does not matter in this case if the filter is changed or oil is drained first.

Sir, can you show me where in blazes is the PVC valve on the 2013 Santa Fe Limited? I have searched and searched but I can't find the damn thing!!
@ozzstars_cars
@ozzstars_cars 3 года назад
Yes on the 3.3L the PCV is located in the back end of the rear valve cover. The throttle body would need to be removed to gain access to it. The PCV valve has a short piece of round foam sleeve over it. I bet you can find it now. 👍

Your welcome Thomas. Glad the video was helpful to you. I personally always use the oil that manufacture specs. In this case 5W-30 mineral. If the oil is changed at the 4,000 mile mark things will be fine. I prefer Pennzoil. Take it easy........

Nice video - thanks for sharing! The only question is about the oil drain plug diameter - you're saying it is 17 mm ID, while if you search the Fumoto valves or just a regular plug from Advanced Auto, both will say that the diameter is 14 mm. I think this is indeed 14 mm. I'm ready to go on with my own oil change as well - recommending Fumoto valves to everyone who does it!
@davidkaul5556
@davidkaul5556 9 лет назад
Hey cruxdei, he said it was a "17 mm", meaning that the head is 17mm. Also you are correct, the actual bolt diameter is 14mm. You are both correct in what you are saying, you just misunderstood what he said!

Oil Plug Torque Spec: Thanks for the info. It looks as if there's enough room to do the change with no ramps or jack as I was able to lie on ground and reach the oil plug underneath. Is there a Torque spec on the oil plug that you know of?
@ozzstars_cars

I'd say about 1 1/2 ugga duggas. 25-30 ft lbs according to specs should be good.

Sometimes engineering to locate other powertrain components to make room below so the mount the filter on top. Sometimes just easy access. There is no filtering benefit over the canister screw on type. Great question!

The o-ring on the filter nipple was probably never lubed before it was installed, so it got stuck.
