In this episode of Driveway Dudes Paul and Will show you how to change the oil & oil filter on a 2010 Seat Ibiza 1.2 Petrol.
Tools and miscellaneous used:
Small trolley jack and axle stands with Wheel block.
Sockets: 6mm Allen Key and 6mm socket with adapter for sump plug. 36mm for oil filter housing, both 1/2" drive.
1/2" ratchet.
Torque wrench.
Oil collector.
Rubber / Latex / Nitrile gloves.
Small plastic bag.
Rags.
This service can be carried out easily and by yourself on your driveway.
Wear suitable clothing, gloves and if possible eye protection while underneath the car. Also have rags to wipe/clean oil residue.
Be safe, use axle stands to support the car. Do not rely on the car jack alone and try to work on a level surface.

Thank you very much, really useful video. How much oil 5w30 did you finally use including the oil filter?
@DrivewayDudes
@DrivewayDudes 6 лет назад
Hi Dimitris. I'm glad you found the video useful. The engine oil capacity for this engine (1.2 petrol 12v 51kW) is 2.8 litres. With any car I like to put in about 0.5 - 1 litre less than capacity and slowly start topping up (to allow the oil to drain to the sump) until I'm happy with the level between minimum and maximum on the dipstick. Once you start the engine, and the oil pump circulates the oil around the various galleries, it will fill the oil filter housing and saturate the oil filter. This will mean the level of oil you originally saw on the dipstick will drop a little. After you switch off the engine, allow about 20 minutes for the oil to drain back down to the sump and top up as necessary/desired. Don't forget to have the car on a level surface :) I hope you found the above information useful and feel free to reach out to us if you ever have any more questions. Driveway Dudes - Will

@robertnijhuis4218 6 лет назад
Just a little tip fill your oil filter with oil as it saves your engine slightly
@DrivewayDudes
@DrivewayDudes 6 лет назад
A half correct suggestion but not necessary. You can if you wish put some oil in with the filter but not too much
@vandaminator1
@vandaminator1 2 года назад
You should allways do this yourself, because if you do it on a mechanic is just a matter of time they drop oil on the power generator.

I have a 1.4 2011 seat Ibiza and i am just about to pay over £120 for a service , but watching this has made me realise that I could do it myself for a lot less lol , do I just follow the same instructions even tho I’m in a 1.4?
@DrivewayDudes
@DrivewayDudes 6 лет назад
Hi Dj Crixx, If you have the tools, the correct replacement parts and lubes then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to attempt to do the oil and filter change yourself. We have other videos related to the Seat Ibiza that you may also find useful.

Make sure the engine is not hot. Drain from the lowest point. Fill to required level, run engine up to normal temp, let it cool down then check level again. Top up if necessary

We have containers where we store used oil until it's time for a trip to our local recycling centre which among other things, accepts used oils and lubricants

i have a seat ibiza 1.2 Petrol start-stop ecomotive year 2011 75hp and i dont have user manual..what oil should i use ?
@DrivewayDudes
@DrivewayDudes 5 лет назад
Please confirm the engine as the 1.2 12V petrol model is rated at 69hp and the 1.2TSI is 103hp. The 1.0 petrol is 73bhp. For 2011 Seat launched a 1.2 ecomotive start stop with a 75hp TDi engine

No chance is that 36mm socket, 32 at absolute most
@DrivewayDudes
@DrivewayDudes 5 лет назад
36mm does seem a bit big for such a small filter housing but as Seat parts are shared with other models and brands it shouldn't be that surprising
