3 years old video, but helped me a lot. mine is the 1.6D but same way of working. took out 4.2 litres so must have needed the change. put 5 litres in and first test run today appears promising. thanks again if you read this still.
9:35 that knob that you call 'this bit' has to line up correctly inside the oil filter housing, the pat that the cap screws onto. If you clean the housing and shine a light into it, you'll see a hole. The knob on the filter has to be pushed into that hole. Otherwise, you may experience low oil pressure.
I used to do this on my SD coupe, but felt I wanted to do it via the sump today, noticed a grain half the size of a small piece of rice of metal in the oil, wish I’d changed it via the plug who knows how long it’s been washing around in there.
Hi, this is a great instructional video. I have just done the oil and filter, air filter and cabin filter on a mini countryman 2011 R60 SD version of this car. I have also got a fuel filter but cannot find where it is or even if it has one. I have also searched the internet but can't find anything on this at all. Any advice is appreciated.
I’ve just changed the oil on mine mine but unfortunately the plastic oil filter cap was on so tight, it cracked when I tried to remove it . I’ll need to order a new one now . The cap on the older R50 Mini Cooper was made of metal so maybe I wouldn’t have had the same problem .
Hi Vince, will this oil and oil filter change process work exactly the same on a 2013 Manual Mini Cooper Hatchback 1.6L? Do you have any video to show how to do transmission oil and filter change as well?
Don’t like to criticise but you didn’t locate the oil filter before screwing it in. Like another comment you should have looked in and seen the hole to locate the button that protrudes from filter not just bang it in. Lol . And I think the rubber o ring should be at the end of cap. It don’t make sense to be two threads down.
HI Vince good video,i have just done the oil change. i noticed the filter has a small nipple on the bottom side of it which locates into hole at the bottom of the filter holder , you never located it when you put in the filter,in but it might have gone in when you assembled it ?
