How to change the pitch or key of a sample in logic pro x will give you the flexibility to bring any sound or sample into your logic session without any headache to make it fit to your song. I often change the pitch and key of samples with my logic session or if I'm importing samples from splice. Sometimes I also change the key or pitch adjust my entire song if I want to sing in a lower register. There's many reasons why you might want to learn learn how to change the pitch or key and in this video I'm going to show you the shortcuts and how to do it quickly in logic pro x so you can be a producing music producer! how do you change a major key to a minor key?

What about if you want to change the pitch not a whole semi-tone? In other words, what if you wanted to change it by .485 of a semi-tone? (or some pitch that's undefined)? I have some digitized stuff from my old cassette 4-track, and the tape has stretched out or something, it is no longer in a standard tuning/key.

All I needed to do was find how to change the pitch of an instrument mix. Didn't know whether my version of Logic (10.3.3) was capable of using your mouse-driven change using "Transpose" in Region area at top-left. Previously I thought I was limited to transposing + or - 12 only. Your tip worked perfectly and is a lifesaver for my session today -- won't know the vocalist's ideal key till she gets here. This is not working for me on my track. When I go to the region area you mention, the options are greyed out, and when I use option-arrows it says "-1" but doesn't make any change. This is a comped track of audio (acoustic guitar). I want to shift it down a half step so I can sing to it more easily. Does the problem have to do with it being a comped track? Do I need to merge or somehow combine the comps into one? (I don't know how to do this either). Thanks! Enjoy your videos.

Hi, so does this work for imported sample of an existing song or just for a sample of something you played or sang yourself? For instance, I just sampled the piano intro of an Elliott Smith song and I want to use it as is, but later on also make it slower or faster. Is that possible? Kid Koala does that in his blues album, slowing down the speed of an existing song that he sampled, and I love that effect.

do you or does anyone know why this changes the length of the vocals in playback after? When i raise the semitones the vocals become shorter in length (faster) and when i lower the semitones they stretch and become slower..

Why does it f up the audio though? In FL Studio the audio still sounds great regardless of how much you change the pitch, but here the quality goes down the more you change it.

Was your song F major or F minor? If it’s was F major then you transposed it to the wrong key….. that will be why it sounded wrong

Thanks for this, very easy! Just one question: when you open musical typing, how do you know that the sample you're trying to adjust is in C? Can you see that somewhere in Logic? I'm kinda new to all the things about octaves and keys and stuff so I'd like to get more into it :)
