Excellent video again mate. Tip for anyone who doesn't have obd or even just a simpler on the driveway method is to drain, measure and refill the same amount, however, when you refill it won't all go in, so when you have almost filled the same amount as drained you need to replace fill plug, start engine run through r n D and back to park for 15 seconds on each to get the transmission areas all full. Then continue to fill the rest of the fluid normally the last 0.5 litres and your done. You also don't need to worry about the temp, do it cold so you get it all in, hotter the fluid more it expands. I've done this on dsg 6 speeds and DL501 7 speeds. It does rely on the condition that your confident the transmission fluid hasn't leaked out and thus your measured quantities are correct when you drain it in the first place. Dsg 02e 6 speed gearbox always drains approx 5.1 litres for me. 100ml either way won't be problem but that's the limits. DL501 7 speed 5.5-5.75 litres. OFCOURSE I ALWAY WOULD RECOMMEND USING SCAN TOOL AND GETTING IT DONE THIS WAY ACCURATELY! knowing the quantities expected is just reassuring to know you have the correct amount of old fluid out as expected and how much litres you gonna need to replace.
Thanks Alvin. More to come. I’ve had to do this job 3 times since then on a couple of S4’s I’ve got. I then ran the trans low by 2.5L on this years One Lap of America…. S4 is still going so it will be interesting to see if it did any damage!
Great video including the detail, also you are correct about not removing the sub brace while on the wheels a lot of you tube videos have the car on its wheels. Did you perform a transmission adaption after the oil change?
I did not. Audi recommends changing it every 30-40K so not sure how different the oil will be. I haven't found any official documentation saying an adaptation was needed. Is this something you have seen?
Yes there are a few videos showing the adaptation via VCDS after a service. Just priced the parts from Audi including new bolts for the cross brace £370.
They are in the queue. I’ll get to them ASAP but it might be a hot minute. Was there something you needed? I have all of the details and part numbers if it helps. My email address is on the contact page on the channel if you needed anything before I get to the videos.
This is the ATF side but make sure you use DSG fluid designed for the transmission. OEM fluid listed in the description can be expensive but LiquiMoly has some.
It’s because they stretch when you torque them. Basically just weaker if you reuse: rts.i-car.com/crn-1316.html#:~:text=What%20is%20a%20torque%2Dto,box%2C%20and%20suspension%20mounting%20locations.
