Im confused in solving equations 3x+7=5x-23 -5x-7=-5x--7 -2x+7=-23 Why didn't we cancel 3x from 3xand5x and WHY 5x from upper equation how to choose which to cancel?

@@noufshahi8946 hey, I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but if u cancel 3x from both sides, you would still get the same answer in the end, as cancelling 5x from both sides, however it might look like this; 23= 2x -7 instead, which is still the same as -2x +7= -23 because if you switched -2x+7 and -23 to opposite sides of the equals sign, their signs would change (negative to positive or positive to negative etc.). so it shouldn't really matter :) but generally I like to cancel the smaller x value (in this case 3x) from both sides! hopefully that helps a bit?

like, there's a LOT of stuff goin' on, like cancelling square roots, dividing the variable on both sides, mutiplying, I just don't understand WHEN to use them

Same. Honestly I don't think this guy is that great. He does a lot of steps without explaining what he is doing, or WHY he is doing it, which is the same mistake teachers make all the time. Seriously if Mr J did videos on these concepts we'd all understand by now.

Cool video man. Can I recommend not using electrical forumlas for your examples? RT, R1 and R2 get very confusing, and it wasn't clear if they were variables or actual values! Using x, y, z is much more clearer to seperate the terms.

12:55 why didn’t you move 1/R2 by multiplying it by its reciprocal to cancel it out like you said in 3:20 Please can someone tell me when i should you use this way, and when i should use the other way, as in 12:55 he just magically moved it as if he didn’t say we should multiply by it’s reciprocal to move it?

if you had a formula that was like a = b * c * d * e * f * g * h * i how would you go about solving for b? Would you have to divide each individually or could you divide both sides by cdefghi immediately for the answer?
